2The January wind has a hundred voices, it can scream(呼啸), it can bellow()怒吼, it can whisper(嘤嘤细语), and it can sing a lullaby.(喃喃低语) It can roar(呼呼吼叫) through the leafless oaks and shout down the hill-side, and it can murmur(呢喃软语) in the white pines rooted among the granite ledges where lichen makes strange hieroglyphics. It can whistle down(沙沙尖叫) a chimney and set the hearth flames to dancing… in the cold of a lonely night it can rattle the sash (咯咯作响)and stay there muttering (嘟噜)of ice and snow banks and deep frozen ponds.
    3. Seven young parrots had not gone far, when they saw a tree with a single cherry on i
t, which the oldest parrot picked instantly. But the other six, being extremely hungry, tried to get it also-on which all the seven began to fight.
And they scuffled(扑呀) and huffled(扇), and shuffled(拍), and puffled(抬), and muffled(敲), and buffled,(斗) and duffled(翻), and fluffled and guffled and bruffled, and screamed(喊) and shrieked(叫) and squealed,(嘶) and squeaked(鸣) and clawed(又抓) and snapped(打,咬) and bit, and bumped(推) and thumped,(搡) and dumped(撞) and flumped(挤) each other-till they were all torn into little bits. And as last there was nothing left to record this painful accident, except the cherry and seven small green feathers. And that was the vicious and voluble end of the seven young parrots.
