PERSONAL STATEMENT
When passing familiar splendid building every time, I always feel a little painful in my heart. My uncle once was a successful and wealthy businessman. However, while (trading with) an agent from United Kingdom the first time, he was bankrupt and all of his wealth was gone in a minute. The reason why uncle lost everything was that he broke the (trade law) because of being unfamiliar with the (international commercial rule). At that time, I swore I would put an end to the same happening!
In September 1999, with the excellent score of the competitive Chinese University Entrance Examination, I was admitted to the School of Law in Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, the largest School of Law and one of the best in China. You might say that uncle's misfortune impelled me to go to faculty of law. In fact, the great interest in law results in my aggressively pursuing legal study. The closer I contact with the profound science of law, the more interested I am in it. When first touching the (international trade law), I found it was so fascinated that I couldn't get away from it. Later on, I realized that there would be no wealth without (trade and trade) requires a clear and predictable legal framework for its paradigm transaction, the sale of goods. (Traders) around the world frequently choose English law to govern their contracts, with disputes to be resolved through London arbitration or litigation.
China has been a member of WTO since last year and more and more entrepreneurs begin to (trade with) foreigners. Unfortunately, most of them don't know how to protect themselves by law when their rights are violated. However, most lawyers can't help them because of not acquainting with the related legal field. The same happenings of my uncle are still going on everyday. The extent of pain in my heart is increasing everyday.
I know that there is an urgent need to learn the (business law) in the UK for a successful lawyer in China today.unfamiliar
During studying in the university, I spent lots of time in academic pursuit. Although the average grade only ranked in the upper 15% in my class of over 60 students, it would be better if I were not seriously ill during the final tests of the sixth semester.  To absorb more legal expertise, I crazily sought many reference materials, including a variety of theses in English. Although encountering various difficulties in reading materials in English at the beginning, I use dictionary few times now and can better grasp the meaning of the lengthy legal clauses. Therefore, I have mastered the basic knowledge of Common Law theories. Besides learning on campus, I had also obtained the knowledge from the reality of the
society. In 2002, a team led by me, consisting of 31 legal volunteers went to Quanzhou, my hometown, to propagandize the legal knowledge. During 3 days, we handled over 400 inquiries, including family and business disputes. After encountering so many complex problems in the real world, I understood laws better than ever before. In the following days, I wrote two theses: one was published by SHANDONG PROVINCE SOCIAL SCIENCES and the other one is to be published by GANSU PROVINCE SOCIAL SCIENCES. Refusing to be a bookworm, I have launched a wide array of activities and therefore was awarded “Excellent Student Officer of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law” in 2001. Some people say I only know how to study and organize activities. In fact, like most young peers, I like music, traveling and making friends.
Now, I realized that with the soaring development of economy, China couldn't stay away from the (international trade) and to understand the related law is an urgent task for all the lawyers in China. To be a prestigious lawyer in the future, I really need to learn more about (international commercial law) to broaden my horizon, in UK. Being to graduate next year, I hope that I will go on studying in your distinguished graduate school. I very much look forward to experiencing the atmosphere of the major research and teaching university. I believe that studying in the UK's largest provider of taught postgraduate degrees will help me achieve my potential and become my lifetime wealth.
