高德置地广场坐落于中国杭州新兴的中央商务区，是一个集酒店、零售商业、住宅和办公一体的综合开发项目。SOM的设计旨在表现杭州这座城市对未来的乐观进取精神及其丰厚的历史底蕴。通过对建筑尺度的精心处理和多个富有质感的建筑立面，捕捉西湖名胜之神韵，以建筑设计的宁静淡然气质营造出一个令人震撼的城市地标。
朝向公园的立面，通过玻璃的反射打造出水光潋滟、波光粼粼的光影效果，创建了一个“站立的西湖”。酒店、办公室和服务式公寓的立面，是透明和不透明窗以及可开启窗的策略性组合，以平衡视野效果、降低能耗、和自然通风等需求。
从杭州西湖的亭台楼阁获得灵感，不同功能的建筑元素，包括酒店餐厅、多功能宴会厅和一处安静的茶馆散落布置在裙楼屋顶的水景花园中。水景位于商场大型玻璃天庭的上方，既有利于降低屋顶花园的温度，也让斑驳的阳光透过玻璃照射入商场内部。
项目打造了一个功能齐全而紧凑的建筑，最大程度地优化了视野、采光和自然通风。建筑和结构工程的紧密合作，实现了项目不同层面的需求。公共地下层上方分成三座独立的建筑，打造出独特的建筑体量。创新的结构体系解决了多项新挑战：纤细的高宽比，不同功能区域之间的分隔，为引入光线而设置的立面开槽及转换，大悬挑的功能空间，以及多个偏心核心筒。
SOM的设计成功克服了复杂的建筑造型带来的结构挑战，通过调整剪力墙的比例来配合建筑的体量，以使各楼层的刚度中心与质量中心对齐，消除不规则的扭转，并结合其他措施消除软弱层和薄弱层。转换桁架和连体桁架提供了备份荷载路径，提高安全性。SOM 在本项目采用的结构分析和设计步骤都极具挑战性和创新性。Client: G.T. Land Holdings Ltd.

Hangzhou GT Land Jumeirah is a mixed-use, hotel, retail, residential and office development located in an emerging central business district. This new development seeks to explore the forward optimism and rich history of the area. The spirit of the famous West Lake is captured through the attention to scale and multiple textured facades, creating an urban spectacle that can convey the building’s sense of calm.
The northern facade conceptually creates a vertical West Lake with its rippled surface phenomena animated by a series of reflective glass panels. The hotel, offices and part of the serviced apartment facades host a composed mix of transparent, opaque, and operable window panels to balance the needs for views, energy performance, and natural ventilation access.
The archetypal pavilions that ring Hangzhou’s West Lake are reinterpreted in the Water Garden as a
n array of programmatically scaled elements, including a hotel restaurant, a multifunctional ballroom, and an intimate tea house. The water feature lays on a large, glazed skylight above the retail mall, reducing the temperature at the garden while also allowing sun dappled light into the spaces below.
The complex architecture of the GT Land Jumeirah maximizes views, sunlight, and ventilation throughout a programmatically dense building. The multi-layered goals of the project were achieved through a powerful unification of architecture and structural engineering. The architectural massing necessitated the use of three seismically separate buildings above grade on a common basement. The innovative structure addressed multiple novel challenges: slender proportions, through-slots and transfers that separate different program areas and admit light, cantilevered functional spaces, and multiple offset cores.
The project successfully overcame the structural challenges posed by the complex architectural form. The geometry was tamed by “tuning” the proportions of the shear walls so as to closely align the centers of mass and rigidity at each floor to eliminate torsional irregularities, and by incorporating other measures to eliminate soft stories, and weak stories. Redundant load paths were provided at the transfer and linking trusses to ensure enhanced safety. The analysis and design processes utilized were
exceptionally challenging, thorough, and innovative.
