Recently, 117 schools in Qujiang District, Zhejiang Province, have included a bow ceremony or "zuoyi(作揖礼)in the teaching content, requiring teachers and students to meet and make a bow with hands folded in front.
Cheng Junning, an officer from Qujiang District First Middle School, said that for thousands o
f years, the Chinese people have been using "zuoyi" as a general gesture for hello. To a certain extent, it plays a role in carrying forward the traditional culture and has its value.
Dr. Tang Lap Kwong from the Chinese University of Hong Kong said he was “very excited to see this and hope they will insist on it in the future" in an interview with the Chinanews. He said it is a good idea to promote Chinese traditional culture in schools. People have to respect the culture.
However, opinions split online. Not seeing the value of the movement, some netizens argue that promoting the bow ceremony in schools is just formalism. Teachers and students are so familiar with each other that they usually greet or wave when they meet, which is relatively normal. So it is not necessary to make a bow for them.

A bow ceremony, where students and teachers will greet each other as our forefathers did, was introduced in 117 Zhejiang schools. This new practice, however, divides netizens, professors and officers alike. (31 words)
Personally, the zuoyi practice is neither convenient nor necessary, thus not worth promotin
g. Firstly, as teachers and students are accustomed to greeting each other by saying hello or waving hands, it might be awkward or embarrassing for them to switch to the nerdy and old-fashioned bowing. Secondly, there exist many other ways to promote traditional Chinese culture, say, practicing calligraphy or paper-cutting, rather than reviving zuoyi, which has already faded to the backstage
for modern people.True, zuoyi may add zest and color to the routine campus etiquette. Yet, once their novelty wears off, students and teachers will find it difficult and inconvenient to sustain the zuoyi ritual, thus abandoning it afterwards. It would be better were bowing only applied to special occasions like flagraising
ceremonies or the annual Teacher’s Day.
Total word count: 167.
启示:
答, 比如第8 题,它问的是where does the woman work 而非the man.
它问的是what is the woman’s first question ,而非second 或者third.
racing 与昨天的某套试卷中的race through my mind 一模一样。
televised session of the parliament.
比如with the intention of doing, fall victim to, be harmful to, approach todoing sth , 希望高考也这样,但是恐怕几率小。
True, zuoyi may add zest and color to the routine campus etiquette. Yet, once their novelty wears off, students and teachers will find it difficult and inconvenient to sustain the zuoyi ritual, thus abandoning it afterwards.
