unequal一、只能接动词的-ing形式作宾语的动词:
1、miss 失去
I am sorry I missed seeing you while you especially visited me to my home.
2、mind 介意
Would you mind opening the window?
3、enjoy 喜欢
Young children enjoy helping around the house.
4、give up 放弃
He gave up gambling!
5、admit 承认(不情愿的)
Dana admitted feeling hurt by what I had said.
Greene admitted causing death by reckless driving.
6、finish 完成
Have you finished correcting the students’ papers?
7、avoid 避免
You should avoid over-spending in the first half of the year.

二、即可接动词–ing形式,又可接动词不定式作宾语的动词:
(一)接两种形式,意义无太大区别的动词
如表示一般行为,用分词结构作宾语为多,如表示特定的活具体的动作,则用不
定式作宾语为多。
1.Can’t bear
I can’t bear living alone.
I can’t bear to see the child treated stupidly.
2.Dread
I dread falling ill.
I dread to think of it.
3.Neglect
He neglected checking the list of orders.
Mrs Jones often neglected to answer the letter right away.
4.Prefer
Phil prefers doing it his way.
He prefers to go by train this evening.
5.Like
I don’t like watching television.
I’d like to swim today.
6.Need
This letter needs signing by the manager.
This letter needs to be signed by the manager.
7.Want
The house wants rewiring.
The house wants to be rewired.
8.Require
Your car urgently required seeing to.
Your car urgently required to be seen to.
9.Deserve
That boy deserves looking after.
That boy deserves to be looked after.
10.Begin
After he had collected the material, he began writing.
After a week he began to enjoy his stay.
11.Start
After some hesitation he started writing his report.
It has already started to rain.
12.Attempt
He attempted escaping.
You should not attempt to escpe.
13.Intend
Do you think he intends marrying her?
What do you intend to marry her for?
14.Encourage
They encouraged learning English by radio and television.
They encouraged me to learn English by radio and television.
15.Allow
She doesn’t allow talking here.
She doesn’t allow us to talk here.
16.Agree
They agreed on sharing the profits equally.
They agreed to share the profits equally.
17.Decide
In the end she decided on buying the green coat.

(二)接两种形式,意义上有很大区别的动词
1)Mean
Your plan would mean spending hours. (意味着)
I didn’t mean to make you angry. (打算)
2)Try
If you want to improve the taste, try adding some sugar. (试试用)
Philip tried to answer each question by himself. (努力设法)
3)Remember
Can’t you remember telling me the story last night? (动作已经发生)
You must remember to tell him all that. (动作还未发生)
4)Forget
I shall never forget seeing the Great Wall. (动作已经发生)
I was so busy that I forgot to see the Great Wall. (动作还未发生)
5)Regret
I regret telling you that David stole the money. (动作已经发生)
I regret to tell you that David stole the money.(遗憾,相当于I’m sorry to tell you)
6)Stop
They stopped watching TV at 9:30. (停止做某事)
They stopped to watch TV at 9:30.(因为要去做某事而停下来)
7)Leave off
He left off writing the book. (停止)
He left off to write the book.(去做)
8)Go on
She went on reading.(继续)
Father said Mother had gone to the hospital, and went on to say that
Grandmother was coming to take care of us.(接下来说,相当于and added that…)
