The topic list for Movers includes topics covered at Starters. Some of these inclusive topics may have been retitled and the topic list for Starters is to be revised and restated to take account of this. Some of the topics entail only the vocabulary and structures covered at Starters. Common topics build on and extend the language at Starters. And others, shown in red , are introduced for the first time at this level.

3. Component 1 – Listening (25 minutes/25 items)
Part 1 – This consists of the dialogue describing people and their actions, and a corresponding picture. Candidates match names to people by drawing lines.
Part 2 – This consists of a dialogue in which one of the speakers gives personal information. Candidates extract key words/phrases and complete a notepad.
Part 3 – This consists of a dialogue in which one speaker describes what he/she did during the past week. Candidates listen and match pictures to days of the week.
Part 4 – This consists of a dialogue about pictures. Candidates identify the pictures which are described by choosing from sets of 3.
Part 5 – This consists of a dialogue in which one speaker gives the other instructions to colour/draw/write on parts of a black/white drawing. Candidates follow the same instructions.

4. Component 2 – Reading and Writing (30 minutes/40 items)
Part 1 – This consists of a set of pictures and a set of ‘clues’ or definitions. Candidates match the two. There are an unequal number of each.
Part 2 – This consists of a single and a set of short descriptions, some of which are correct and some incorrect. Candidates write ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
Part 3 – This consists of a written dialogue for which three different responses are given for the second speaker. Candidates choose the most suitable of the three responses, by writing a corresponding letter. Part 4 – This consists of a gapped text, with small pictures illustrating each of the missing words. Candidates supply the missing words.
Part 5 – This consists of a series of related pictures and an accompanying text. Beneath each picture and paragraph there are open-ended comprehension questions, which candidates answer with a word or phrase. Part 6 – This consists of a gapped text. Candidates identity the missing words by selecting one of three for each gap.
