Although, most of the role of monarch is symbolic, it still plays an important role in British people’s life. The reasons are as follows:

It is the monarch who abandoned the mortal rights and contributed a lot for the formation of the parliamentary system so that every one can get the chance to be involved in politics. Undoubtedly, it represents a continuity of the political system and social culture. The monarchy in the western countries functions just like a living museum of history. 
Politically, the monarch has never taken sides in any political debate. In name, he enjoys the supreme position and represents the nation of Britain. As a result, he plays a very important r
ole in the unification of the country. Besides the British monarch still keeps three important mortal rights: the right to be consulted, the right to provide suggestion, and the right to give warning.
