英语中常见的几种定语后置的情况（附练习及答案）
在英语中，定语多数情况下放在被修饰的成分之前，称为前置定语。但有时是词或短语作定语时，其位置要放在被修饰的成分之后,称为后置定语。常见的后置定语有以下几种情况：
一、介词短语作定语
（1）Who are the man and the woman （beside） the house?
房屋旁边的那个男人和妇女是谁?
（2）The red one （on the right） looks very nice，doesn't it?
右边的红的那件看上去很好，不是吗?
（3）The lamp （in the room ）gave poor light. 房间里的灯发出微弱的光。
（4）the map on the wall 墙上的地图
the south side of the Changjiang River 长江南岸
the development of China 中国的发展
the birds in the tree树上的小鸟
（5）He lives in a house（ with big trees all around it）.
They often eat dumplings （with seafood in them）.
The girl （with big eyes 〉is Jim's sister.
Look at the man（ with funny glasses）.
（7）The bird （in the tree） is singing.
The man （in black ）is Mr. Brown, our physic teacher.
The lady（ in the car） is from France.
The man （in the hat ）invited me.
The girl（ in a red coat ）is my sister.
（8）The man （under the tree） is my father.
（9）The boy （in blue ）is my brother
（10）The book（ by my father） is my favorite.
二、不定式(短语)作定语
①He told me he had an important meeting （to attend）.
resolve to do sth他对我说，他有个重要会议要参加。
②Do you have anything（ to say ）for yourself? 你还有什么可为自己辩护的吗?
三、分词短语作定语
①An Eighth Route Army man（riding a horse） came from the front.
一位八路军战士骑着马从前线赶来。
②Is English the language （spoken by the largest number of people in the world）?
英语是不是世界上说得最多的一种语言?
③He has no room to live in.
他没有地方住。
④I need a pen to write with.
我需要一支钢笔来写字。
⑤He's the only one to get there.
他是唯一一个到那儿的。
⑥He is always the first to come and the last to leave.他总是第一个来最后一个走。
⑦I have several questions to discuss with you.我有几个问题要与你讨论。
不定式与中心词是动宾关系(…discuss questions)
⑧We are in need of nurses to look after the kid.我们急需护士照顾孩子。
不定式与中心词是主谓关系(nurses look after…)
⑨I have a lot of housework to do.
我有大量家务要做。
不定式与中心词是动宾关系(…do housework)
四、形容词短语作定语
①What about the one（ next to it）?
紧挨着它的那件怎样?
②The fisherman drew in an old basket （full of sand）.
那位渔夫拉上来一只装 满沙子的旧篮子。
③Those brave enough to take the course
那些够勇敢选修这门课的人
④a hall large enough to hold two thousand people .能容纳两千人的会议厅
⑤a language easy to learn but difficult to master.一门容易学但是很难掌握的语言
⑥a man always ready to help
乐于帮助别人的一个人
⑦a man easy to work with
很容易共事的人
⑧many tools available to resolve these problems

⑩questions so easy to answer
