Learning from Personal Experience Is More Important
There are two ways for us to learn, one is to learn in class, the other is to learn from our personal experience. As far as I am concerned, the latter is far more important to our self-development.
In class, usually the knowledge taught by our teachers is just listened to and then forgotten, few would be memorized. There are several reasons. Firstly, the knowledge is just taught to us orally and we have no chance to put it into practice. Secondly, many students don’t like having classes and they just do something else in class and therefore can learn little. Thirdly, some teachers are not good at delivering the accurate knowledge to the students, which brings difficulties to students’ understanding. After all, communication between people is always far less effective than dialogue within ourselves.
When it comes to learning from personal experience, the situation is totally different. We can often remember the lessons better because we experience them by ourselves. Those theories can only be really understood after people have experienced similar situations. Ther
e have been many times when I suddenly realized the true meaning of one sentence or the true feelings others would feel on that occasion because I had the very kind of experience. The influence of our experiences is immeasurable.
less is more大道至简    A wise man is a person who can always learn from his own experience. We should make most of our personal experience to improve ourselves.
