英语重点词汇more than one详解
1. “More than one + 单形名词”结构虽有复念，但习惯上作主语时，谓语动词用单数。
More than one boy【has read】the story. 不止一个男孩已经读了这个故事。
More than one question was asked.不止一个问题被问到。
It takes more than one cold day for the river to freeze three feet deep--the trouble has been brewing for quite some time.

More than one（不止一个） person is interested in it.不止一个人对这感兴趣。
2. “more +复形名词+than one” 作主语时，谓语动词用复数。less is more英文理解
More boys than one【have read】the story. 不止一个男孩已经读了这个故事。
More members than one have protested against the proposal.
不止一个成员抗议这项提议。
注意：
more than one +数词＋复数名词 作主语时,谓语动词用复数.。
例如: More than one thousand men and women【are working】in this factory.
有1000多男女工人在这家工厂做工。
More than one hundred police have ringed the area.
这一地区已被上百名警察包围。
外企会议或英文辩论赛中，很多人会习惯用"According "开头，但英文里其实并没有according to me这种说法。
因为according to后面跟的是一种客观的依据。所以不能用according to me／us，也不用according to you。但如果是according to the doctor（或人名）就没有问题。
另外，既是客观陈述，according to就不接view（看法）和opinion（意见）这些有主观成份的字眼。真想说依据我的看法，要用in my opinion。

就我的看法，这是很可靠的投资。
According to me, it is a very sound investment.　（X）
According to my opinion, it is a very sound investment.（X）
In my opinion, it is a very sound investment.（√）
“according to”适合很多场景，只要注意使用的时候不要踩以上的坑就可以了。例如：
Philip stayed at the hotel, according to Mr Hemming.
据亨明先生所说，菲利普住在旅馆里。
They can get on with running the school system according to their own lights and in their o
wn interests.
他们可以继续按照自己的想法，依据自己的利益来管理学校系统。
According to the prosecution, the officers manufactured an elaborate story
根据控方意见，官员们精心编造了事情经过。
Answer a fool according to his folly.以其人之道，还治其人之身。
千万注意：
according to句型其后接成分不能是人称代词宾格，但是，可以接第三人称代词：
According to him,she is not honest.据他说，她是一个不诚实的人。
例外，according to如需要接一个句子时，则用according as,如：
Everyone contributes according as he is able.每个人根据自己的能力作出自己的贡献。
