泰州风俗文化
      泰州是江苏省首批公布的省级历史文化名城，文物古迹众多。境内有距今4000多年的龙山文化遗址，有新石器时代晚期至商、周的古文化遗址，西汉初开凿的古运盐河遗址。战国时期的昭阳墓，《水浒传》作者施耐庵墓，扬州八怪之一的郑板桥墓，南京吏部左侍郎储山雚墓等亦在泰州。此外还有始建于东晋的江淮名刹光孝寺，唐建明修的南山寺大雄宝殿和城隍庙，明建清修的庆云寺、东岳庙、胡祠堂、岳飞生祠、崇儒祠、胡公书院、马洲书院、襟江书院和扬郡试院。古典园林有日涉园和李园，另有郑板桥、刘熙载、刘国钧等故居。泰州的风景名胜颇具特，有垛田风光、孤山风景区、泰山公园、梅兰芳公园、东河风景区等。
    泰州历史上名贤辈出，唐代有书法评论家张怀瓘，著有《书断》、《书议》、《书估》等，擅长正、行、草书，书法“正、行可比虞、褚，草欲独步于数百年间”。宋代有著名教育家胡瑗，元末明初有文学家施耐庵创作古典文学名著《水浒传》，至明代，哲学家王艮阐发以尊身立本为内涵的“格物说”与具有社会改良思想的“王道论”，逐渐形成“泰州学派”。清代有著名天文历算家陈厚耀，评话宗师柳敬亭，扬州八怪之一郑板桥，“扬州学派”先驱者任大椿，著名文艺评论家刘熙载，围棋棋圣黄龙士，太谷学派集大成者黄葆年。近现代有著名地质学家丁文江，著名爱国实业家刘国钧，杰出女教育家吴贻芳，著名剧作家丁西林，京剧表演艺术家梅兰芳，
著名文学史家、传记文学家朱东润等。泰州又是具有光荣革命斗争传统的城市。南宋抗金，明代抗倭，战争期间众抗英，抗日战争和解放战争期间陈毅三进泰州，新四军黄桥决战，苏中七战七捷，中国人民解放军海军诞生等重大历史事件也都发生在泰州。中安轮遇难烈士纪念馆，杨根思烈士陵园，七战七捷纪念碑，中共江浙区委泰兴独立支部旧址，新四军东进泰州谈判处旧址，黄桥战役纪念馆，中国人民解放军海军诞生地旧址等都是爱国主义和革命传统教育的基地。泰州和各市（区）文物单位征集收藏了从新石器时代，历商、周、汉、六朝、宋、元至明、清的珍贵陶瓷，明代服饰，明、清字画，故宫档案等文物1.3万多件，国家级珍贵文物达千件以上。还有数百件革命文物收藏在各有关纪念馆。各级政府十分重视文物工作，修缮大批文物保护单位。泰州有省级文物保护单位27处，市级文物保护单位143处，文物管理机构4个，博物馆2家，纪念馆7家。
