Ready,go!!! 一、词汇Words 1. chief a. most important, main 主要的,为首的 n. 领袖;首领 e. g. The lady sitting on the bottom stair is the chief editor. 坐在最下面的一级台阶上的女士是主编。 【知识拓展】chiefly adv. 主要地 2. focus v.聚焦,调节焦距 n.焦点, 焦距 【知识拓展】focus on = pay special attention to 着重在,集中在 e. g. The discussion focused on three main problems. 批注:这里要强调一下 pay attention to 中的to为介词而不是不定式符号,还有其它的几个短语作为补充,如 look forward to, devote… to …, contribute…to… 3. suggest v. 建议 e. g. I suggest a visit to Shanghai Museum. 我建议去参观上海博物馆。 I suggest seeing a movie. 我建议去看电影。 I suggest that we (should) make a plan first. 我建议我们首先做一个计划。 【知识扩展】suggestion n. 建议 批注:对于该词的用法,可以适当调节,对于基础的学生只强调第一个用法和和第二个用法,对于上等学生可以对虚拟进行扩展讲解。 4. decision n. 决定 【知识拓展】make a decision = make a choice decide v. 决定 decide to do sth.= make up one’s mind to do sth. 5. unless conj. 除非 e. g. Unless you work hard, you will fail. If you don’t work hard, you will fail. 如果你不努力,你就会失败。 【知识扩展】unless = if…not 批注:该连词的知识扩展主要用于句型转换,对于基础差的学生要大量进行训练,注意否定的使用。 6. preside v. 主持,主管 【知识扩展】preside over e. g. Who will preside over the meeting? 谁在主持会议? 【指点迷津】in charge of, in the charge of 这两个词都含有“抓住,捕捉”的意思。 (1) in charge of 负责,经营 同义词 run、manage e. g. I am in charge of the company. 我负责这个公司。 (2) in the charge of 被负责,被掌管 e. g. The company is in the charge of me. 我负责这个公司。 批注:这里可以针对不同的学生进行适当地扩展冠词的用法,重点放在有无冠词的区别。 7.exchange programme 交流项目 【知识拓展】change v./n. 改变 changeable adj. 易改变的 changing adj. changing room 更衣室 exchange v. 交换 批注:对于词性转换的讲解,不能只简单地告诉学生词性,还要是从每个词性的具体用法位置讲解,这样有利于学生对词性的理解,在语法词汇、首字母填空、作文中更好地减少失分。 8. a sense of responsibility 责任感 【知识拓展】sense of humor 幽默感 responsible adj. 有责任心的 be responsible for 对…负责 response n. 回答,答复 in response to 作为…的答复 批注:红部分为重点掌握。 9.involve v. 包括, 包含 【指点迷津】 1.include 包括,包含,使(某人或某事)成为整体中的一部分 e. g. The tour included a visit to the Science Museum. 旅游项目中包括参观科学博物馆。 2. involve 意为牵涉,牵连(某人或某事),需要 e. g. The job involved me living in London. 工作需要我信在伦敦。 The strike involved many people. 许多人参加了罢工。 批注:如果基础稍差的学生,不要讲解过难,会打击学生的积极性。 10.detail n. 细节 e. g. Please e-mail us with full details about yourself. 请发邮件详细地介绍你自己。 Please explain in detail. 请详细解释。 11. offer v. 提供(强调主动提供) 【知识拓展】offer sb. sth. = sb. 用于句型转换 offer to do sth. 批注:引申一下 provide sb. with sth.= provide sth for sb. 注意介词的使用 二、重要句型Important Sentences structures 1. Li Xin, chief editor of the school newspaper, 校板报总编辑李欣… 在表示“官衔”、“职位”的名词之前不用定冠词 e. g. Li Hui, monitor of our class, is writing a letter now. 李慧,我们的班长,正在写信。 2. Let’s get started. = Let’s begin/start our meeting. 我们开会吧。 get started = begin/ start doing sth. 3. I prefer CAMPUS STAR to CAMPUS MIRROR. 比起《校园镜报》我更喜欢《校园星报》。 (1) prefer…to… = like… better than… 比…更喜欢… e.g. I prefer apples to oranges. 比起橙子我更喜欢苹果。 I like apples better than oranges.
