    My Vacation to Jingdezhen
The summer holiday was finally here! I was so excited because my parents had promised to take me on a very special trip. On the first day of vacation, we woke up really early and packed our bags. My little brother was still rubbing his eyes sleepily as we headed to the train station.3tiles
We took the high-speed rail from Shanghai all the way to Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province. I had never been to Jiangxi before, so I couldn't wait to see what it was like. The train was super fast and we got there in just a couple of hours.
When we arrived, I was surprised to see that Jingdezhen wasn't a huge city like Shanghai.
It was smaller and there were hills all around with trees and greenery everywhere. The air felt fresher too. I took a big deep breath and smiled - this was already an adventure!
We checked into our hotel and then headed straight for the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum. Jingdezhen is famous for its ceramics and porcelain. At the museum, I saw ceramics from all different dynasties in Chinese history displayed behind glass. There were vases, bowls, plates, and figurines in so many pretty colors and patterns. My favorite was a white porcelain vase with blue flowers painted all over it. It looked perfect!
The next day, we went to an actual ceramics factory where they still make everything by hand using traditional methods from centuries ago. We watched skilled artisans forming vases and plates on spinning pottery wheels. It was amazing to see them shape the wet clay so easily into beautiful objects.
Then we got to try making our own ceramics! I sculpted a little figurine of a cat. My brother made a bowl and decorated it with his handprints. Our creations looked a little lopsided compared to the professionals, but we were proud of them. The workers glazed a
nd fired our pieces for us to take home as souvenirs.
On another day, we visited the Ancient Kiln Folk Houses. This is a village where families used to live right next door to the large wood-burning kilns that fired all the ceramics. The houses were preserved so we could see what life was like centuries ago for ceramic workers. My favorite part was walking through the gigantic kilns and imagining fires raging inside to over 1200°C!
For me, the highlight was definitely the Ceramics World park. It was a huge ceramic theme park filled with sculptures, mazes, tunnels, and even buildings all made out of colorful ceramic pieces. We walked through a stunning ceramic archway as tall as a castle gate. There were gigantic ceramic animals like horses, pandas, and even dinosaurs!
My brother and I had a blast crawling through the ceramic tunnels and walkways. Mom and Dad had to watch their heads so they didn't bonk the low ceilings. The best part was the Mirror Maze made of thousands of ceramic tiles reflecting your image from every angle. We got turned around so many times trying to find the exit! I never knew ceramics could be
so much fun.
On our last day, we visited the Ancient Ceramic Street. This long avenue was lined with shop after shop selling modern and antique ceramics and porcelain. We browsed the beautiful art pieces, from classic blue-and-white bowls to funky modern statues. The shopkeepers let us watch them hand-painting designs on the ceramics. I picked out a cute little ceramic cat figure to bring home as a souvenir.
After a week in Jingdezhen, I felt like I knew everything about the art of ceramics! I had seen ceramics from the past and present, and even made my own piece. Most importantly, I had the best time with my family exploring this historic and beautiful city. I'll never forget the amazing sights and my first hands-on experience with this ancient Chinese artform. I can't wait to go back to the Ceramics Capital someday!

    My Vacation to Jingdezhen, Jiangxi
Woohoo! Summer vacation was finally here and I was sooo excited. My parents told me we were going to a place called Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province to visit my aunt and uncle. I didn't know anything about Jingdezhen but I was just happy to go on a trip!
We took the bullet train from Shanghai to get there. I loved riding on the super fast train and watching the scenery whizz by outside the window. After a few hours we arrived in the city of Jingdezhen. Right away I noticed it was a lot smaller and quieter than big cities like Shanghai. The air also smelled fresher.
My aunt and uncle were waiting for us at the train station. I was so happy to see them! They gave me a big hug and we drove to their house. On the way, I saw lots of old buildings with pretty blue tiles on the roofs. My uncle said those blue tiles were famous in Jingdezhen.
