Titanium Redox Distillation Workshop Process Flow.
The titanium redox distillation workshop is the core workshop of the titanium sponge production process, and its process flow is as follows:
1. Chlorination.
The raw material titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) is fed into the chlorination reactor, and chlorine gas (Cl2) is introduced as the chlorination agent. Under the action of the catalyst, TiCl4 reacts with Cl2 to generate titanium trichloride (TiCl3) and titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4).
2. Reduction.
The TiCl3 generated by chlorination is fed into the reduction reactor, and hydrogen (H2) is introduced as the reducing agent. Under the action of the catalyst, TiCl3 reacts with H2 to generate titanium metal powder and hydrogen chloride (HCl).
3. Distillation.
The titanium metal powder generated by reduction is fed into the distillation column. In the distillation column, the titanium metal powder is heated to vaporize, and the vapor is condensed into titanium sponge. The undistilled titanium metal powder is returned to the reduction reactor for re-reduction.
4. Screening.
The titanium sponge obtained by distillation is screened to remove impurities such as titanium dioxide (TiO2) and titanium nitride (TiN). The qualified titanium sponge is packaged and stored.
5. Waste gas treatment.
The waste gas generated in the chlorination, reduction and distillation processes contains HCl, Cl2 and other harmful gases. The waste gas is treated by a wet scrubber to remove HCl and Cl2.
