In order to actively utilize the non-traditional resources and reduce the dependence of chemical industry on crude oil,the Ministry of Science and Technology has included the project “Key technology for manufacture of massive chemicals via a non-oil based route ”in the “National Eleventh Five-Y ear Sci-ence and Technology Supporting Plan ”and is now calling for application for relevant research projects.The Ministry of Science and Technology has arranged five :the manufacture of acetylene from natural gas or coalbed gas,the pilot test of acrylic acid and development of package technology;the key technology for manufacture of oxygen-ates through non-oil based route;the technology for com-prehensive utilization of massive oxygenates manufactured through non-oil based route,the development of technology for manufacture of ethylene from low-concentration ethanol;and the study on process technology for manufacture of aro-matics and massive chemicalsfrom natural gas and other non-oil routes.
The research topic related with the manufacture of acetylene from natural gas or coalbed gas requires the researchers to develop within three years a combination technology for purification and concentration of coalbed gas,to engage in the pilot tests for manufacture of acetylene by means of plasma and the process for safely and effectively removing and separating higher alkynes and diolefins,to develop a highly active catalyst for oxo-synthesis of acrylic acid from acetylene,and to reali
ze the integration of catalysis and sepa-ration processes to provide a process design package for a 10-kt/a production unit.
The key technology for manufacture of non-oil based oxy-
genates is to develop the inherent heat conversion of natural gas/coalbed gas to syngas,the one-step synthesis of DME from syngas,the manufacture of methanol through CO 2hydrogenation,the manufacture of propylene from methanol,and the development of methanol-to-DME process and large methanol synthesis reactor.
The topic on comprehensive utilization of massive oxygen-ates manufactured by non-oil based route requires focusing on the technology for treating and purification of industrial off-gases including CO or CO 2,the development of catalysts and process for manufacture of diethyl oxalate via catalytic coupling of CO,the process for manufacture of ethylene gly-col through hydrogenation of oxalate,the new technology for catalytic synthesis of triformol,the pilot study on manu-facture of ethylene glycol and dimethyl carbonate through reaction of ethylene oxide with CO 2,and the manufacture of diphenyl carbonate from dimethyl carbonate,coupled with providing a PDP for a 10kt/a class production unit.The key for manufacture of ethylene from low-concentration ethanol is to develop a novel catalyst,the prod
uction pro-cess and technology for treating and purification of products.The research of process technology for manufacture of aro-matics from natural gas is mainly targeted on non-syngas based route for synthesis of aromatics from natural gas,the manufacture of ethylene glycol from biomass and the explo-ration in the production of massive chemicals via other non-oil based routes.
