    Planning My Dream Music Festival
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I'm in 5th grade. For our latest writing assignment, we had to write an essay about planning our dream event or festival. I decided to write about planning my dream music festival because I absolutely LOVE music!
First off, I need a really cool name for my festival. I was thinking of calling it "JamFest" but that's kind of boring. Maybe something like "EarCandy" or "MeloMania"? Those sound fun! I'll have to keep brainstorming name ideas.
Okay, so where should I have my festival? It would be awesome to do it at a huge outdoor
venue like a big park or fairgrounds. Somewhere with wide open spaces for different stages and room for lots of people. But it also needs to be close enough to town that people can easily get there. The Oakdale County Fairgrounds could work really well!
Now for the fun part - deciding what bands and musicians to have perform! Since this is my dream festival, I can invite anyone I want. Of course I'd have to have my absolute favorite artists there like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and the K-pop group BTS. A bunch of my friends are obsessed with them too so they'd be really popular acts.
But I'd want a good mix of genres represented, not just pop. We'd need to have country artists like Luke Combs and Carrie Underwood. Rock bands would be awesome too - maybe some classic groups like AC/DC as well as current ones like Imagine Dragons. Oh, and rappers! Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion would be so cool.
For smaller acts and up-and-coming artists, I could have local teen bands perform too. That would give them great exposure. And it would be really meaningful to showcase musically talented kids and teens from our own community as openers for the big headliner
s.
This is already sounding like the most epic music festival EVER! But wait, there's more I need
Food is super important at any event, so we'd definitely need an awesome variety of food trucks and vendors. Maybe categorized into "Food Courts" with different themes? Like one area could be all different kinds of pizza, another could have tacos, burgers, that kind of thing. Definitely has to have lots of sugary, greasy fair food though - funnel cakes, cotton candy, tornado potatos! And of course, plenty of spots to get cold drinks and stay hydrated in the summer heat.
We'd need merch too - custom festival t-shirts, caps, water bottles etc. With the cool logo and name we decide on. The merchandise area could also have records, CDs, and music gear for sale.
Ok, now for the million dollar question - how much should tickets cost? Well, since this is
my dream festival, money isn't really an issue right? ven as a kid, I know events like this cost a TON of money to put on. Tickets would probably need to be at least 150 for a single day pass, and maybe 300 or more for a weekend pass if it's a multi-day event. VIP packages with premium seating, meet & greets etc. could go for like 500 or more easily.
for the sale    That's already starting to add up to a pretty huge budget needed for this thing. Paying all the performers, staff, security, setting up all the stages and facilities, marketing and promotion, and everything else. I'd need a lot of corporate sponsors to help cover costs - maybe brands popular with kids/teens like video game companies, clothing lines, snack foods. I could sell ad space for their logos/banners all over the festival grounds. And a portion of the ticket fees would go to charity too!
Ohh one more thing I can't forget - an awesome theme or motto for the festival's vibe! How about "Leave Your Worries at the Gate" or "Let the Music Move You"? Something fun and freeing like that to set the tone.
Whew, I've put a lot of thought into this thing! Planning a huge music festival is no joke, even if it's just a hypothetical dream scenario. Just thinking through all the details is kind of exhausting as a 10-year-old kid. No wonder actual event planners get paid a lot - it takes skill to pull off something enormous like this successfully.
If my "MeloMania Music Festival" could become a reality though, it would be the best thing ever! A place for all different types of people to gather and bond over their love of live music. Moving to the rhythms, screaming singing along, and just fully immersing yourself in an atmosphere bursting with sound and energy for a few days. That's the whole point of music festivals - to experience that magical feeling!
Even if my crazy big plans stay just a dream, it was still a blast to scheme it all up. Writing this essay helped me appreciate how much creativity and hard work goes into making live events like concerts, festivals, sporting competitions etc. actually happen in the real world. Maybe I'll end up working in the music industry one day and can take these ideas off the page! A kid can dream, right?
