My School's Cool Garbage Sorting Activity
Last week, my school had a really fun and important event all about sorting our trash properly. It was called the "Garbage Sorting Promotion" and it taught us why we need to separate our garbage into different bins. I learned so much!
The activity started with an assembly in the morning. The principal gathered everyone in the gym and told us that taking care of the environment is one of the most important things we can do. She said that if we don't sort our garbage carefully, it can really hurt nature.
Next, a few teachers did a little skit to show us the right way to sort our trash. Mrs. Johnson pretended to eat a banana and then asked the class where she should throw away t
he peel. Some kids yelled "Landfill!" but Mrs. Taylor said no, that banana peels and other food scraps belong in the compost bin. Compost is like nature's way of recycling food waste into fertile soil for plants to grow in.
Then Mr. Rodriguez dumped out a trash can full of bottles, cans, paper, and plastic onto the floor. He asked for volunteers to come up and put each item into the right bin - compost for food, recyclables for bottles and cans, and landfill for anything else that can't be reused. It was like a fun garbage sorting game!
After the skit, the teachers passed out coloring books that showed the different types of bins - green for compost, blue for recyclables, and black for landfill trash. The pictures helped me understand what belonged in each bin. For example, I learned that pizza boxes can't actually be recycled because of the food stains, so they go in the compost bin instead.
The best part was when we all went outside and played a real life version of the garbage sorting game! The teachers had spread out piles of trash around the playground. We split i
nto teams and raced to see who could properly sort each pile the fastest. My team won one of the rounds by quickly putting all the soda cans into the recycling bin.
Later that day, we had a chance to decorate our own recycling bins to take home. I covered mine in stickers of trees and animals to remind me why sorting garbage is important - to protect their habitats. Now my bin sits in the kitchen to collect bottles, cans, and containers to be recycled each week.
I'm really glad my school did this Garbage Sorting Promotion activity. It helped me understand all the different bins and why we need to use them. Sorting our trash isn't hard, but it makes a huge difference for the environment. If we can turn food scraps into compost for healthy plants, and recycling bottles and cans into new products, it cuts down on so much waste going into landfills and oceans.
From now on, I'm going to be way better about putting my garbage in the right bins at home and at school. It's such an easy way for a kid like me to help take care of the planet! I'll also remind my parents and siblings which items go where, so our whole family gets into
good garbage sorting habits. Maybe I could even help organize another fun activity teaching neighborhood kids about it.
The Garbage Sorting Promotion at my school opened my eyes to how important it is to handle our trash responsibly. It's one of those small steps that makes a big difference for the environment when everyone does it. I'm proud to be part of the new generation that's growing up knowing how to properly sort our waste. It's going to create a cleaner, healthier planet for humans, animals and plants. Let's keep sorting and protecting nature together!

My School's Garbage Sorting and Recycling Campaign
One day last month, my teacher Mrs. Johnson told our class that we were going to start a big project called the "Garbage Sorting and Recycling Campaign." I didn't know what that meant at first, but I was excited because it sounded like an important grown-up thing to do!
Mrs. Johnson explained that too much trash is going into landfills and polluting the enviro
nment. She said we need to recycle more things like paper, plastic, glass and metal instead of just throwing them away. Recycling means taking old stuff and making it into new products, which is much better than letting it pile up in big smelly dumps.
sort of things什么意思 But to recycle properly, we have to sort our garbage into different bins - one for paper, one for plastics, one for glass and metals, and so on. That's where our campaign came in. We were going to learn all about recycling and get the whole school involved in sorting our trash correctly.
First, we made colorful posters and flyers to teach everyone what types of things go in each recycling bin. We used a green bin for paper, a blue bin for plastics, a brown bin for food scraps that can be composted into fertilizer, and a black bin for anything else that couldn't be recycled or composted. Using different colored bins made it easy for everyone to know where to put their garbage.
Next, we had an assembly where we acted out a fun skit to explain the importance of recycling and showed everyone our posters. I got to play the part of Mr. Plastic Bottle - I wo
re a blue costume made out of old bottles and pretended to get sorted into the blue plastics bin. My friend Emma was Mrs. Banana Peel and she went into the brown compost bin. It was really silly but it helped everyone understand.
