    My School Cleaning Routine
My name is Timmy and I'm a 6th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. One of my weekly responsibilities is helping to clean our school building and grounds. Every Friday afternoon, all the students split up into cleaning crews to tidy up the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and outside areas.
I don't mind the cleaning duties at all. In fact, I kind of look forward to them! It's a nice way to get some exercise after sitting at desks all week. Plus, it teaches us good habits about keeping our environment clean and taking care of shared spaces.
My favorite job is vacuuming the classroom carpets. I get a weird satisfaction from seeing
sort of strange翻译all the dirt, crumbs, and tiny pencil shavings get sucked up into the vacuum bag. By the time I'm done, the floor looks brand new! The loud humming noise kind of bothers my ears, but it's worth it.
I'm not a huge fan of cleaning the bathroom though. That's probably everyone's least favorite job. We all have to take turns scrubbing the toilets, sinks, and floors. It's pretty gross, but it has to be done. At least the custodian handles providing cleaning supplies and chemicals we're not allowed to use.
Outside, we pick up any litter and debris around the school grounds, parking lot, playground equipment, sports fields, etc. It's satisfying to see how much neater everything looks when we're done. In the spring, we also help pull weeds, rake leaves, and do basic landscaping. Getting some fresh air is nice too.
In the hallways, we wipe down locker surfaces, wash the windows, and make sure everything looks neat and orderly. We have to be careful around fragile things like trophy cases of course. I always get paired with a friend for hall duty which makes it go by quickly
as we can chat while we work.
The cafeteria might be the biggest job of all since there are so many tables, chairs, and floors to be cleaned up after everyone's eaten lunch each day. We use big industrial mops and buckets of soapy water. It has to be spotless before we're dismissed. I feel bad for the lunch ladies who have to spend so much extra time in there!
After we're done with everything, we all gather in the gymnasium to stack up cleaning supplies and ensure no areas were missed. If a crew didn't do a satisfactory job, they have to go back and re-do it properly. Our principal Mr. Wilkins does a final inspection at the end.
If we all worked really hard and left the school shining, sometimes Mr. Wilkins will surprise us with a popsicle party or a few extra minutes of recess time on Monday as a treat. Those little rewards give us even more motivation to take pride in our cleaning responsibilities.
Overall, I've learned a lot from this weekly routine. It teaches us all to be responsible, wo
rk as a team, and appreciate a clean environment. Thanks to everyone's efforts, our school always looks beautiful. Now if only I could get my room at home looking this neat and organized!

Cleaning Time! How I Learned to Stop Complaining and Embrace the Mop
Do you ever feel like cleaning is the worst thing ever? Like, why do we even have to do it? It's just going to get messy again tomorrow. I used to think that way, but after a recent experience, my whole perspective on cleaning has changed. Let me tell you the story of how I learned to stop complaining and embrace the mop!
It all started a few weeks ago on a rainy Monday morning. I was sitting in Mrs. Thompson's English class, zoning out as usual, when she made an announcement that caught everyone's attention.
"Class, I unpleasant news," she said sternly. "The janitorial staff will be on st
rike for the next two weeks."
The whole class gasped. No janitors? For two whole weeks? That meant one thing - we would be responsible for keeping our school clean. Cue a chorus of groans from every student.
"I know, I know," Mrs. Thompson said, holding up her hands. "But think of it this way - this will be a wonderful learning opportunity for all of you to take pride in your school and practice responsibility."
Yeah, right. Like anyone our age wanted more responsibility and chores. Still, we didn't have much choice in the matter.
The next day, the cleaning assignments were handed out. Each class was responsible for certain areas of the school - bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, the cafeteria. My class got stuck with cleaning duty for all the bathrooms. Gross!
