My Dream of Playing Football
Hi there! My name is Michael and I'm a 7th grader here at Oakwood Middle School. I'm really excited to apply for the school football club this year because football has been my biggest passion for as long as I can remember.
Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved everything about the game of football. When I was 5 years old, my dad got me my first junior-sized football and we would toss it around in the backyard for hours. He taught me how to throw spirals and catch with my hands instead of using my body as a target. Those early days of playing catch filled me with so much joy and fueled my growing love for the sport.
As I got a bit older, my parents started signing me up for youth recreational football leagues in our town. I'll never forget the thrill of putting on real football pads and a helmet for the first time and stepping out onto an actual football field. The grass felt like a magical green carpet under my cleats. The bright field lights illuminated the cool evening air. And the sound of the referee's whistle kicking off the game filled me with an indescribable sense of excitement.
From my very first snap as a 7-year-old center, I was hooked on football for life. Win or lose, nothing could diminish how amazing I felt just being out on that field and competing with my friends. I played pretty much every position over those early years – running back, receiver, linebacker, you name it. But my true calling was always on the offensive line as a blocker and pass protector. There's just something deeply satisfying about driving a defender into the ground to spring your running back free for a big gain. Pancake blocks became my personal obsession and biggest source of pride.
What started as just a fun activity became a full-blown obsession as I analyzed game fil
m, studied blocking techniques, and worked relentlessly on building strength, speed and agility through conditioning drills. The harder I worked, the more the game seemed to naturally click for me in a way that felt like a flow state unlike anything else in life.
In 5th grade, my coaches pulled me aside and told me I had a real gift for offensive line play. They said with my size, strength and tenacious attitude, I could be something really special if I stuck with football and kept working hard. That's when I set an unwavering goal for myself – to one day be a star college football player and hopefully even make it to the NFL. It's the biggest dream I've ever had.
So when I found out Oakwood Middle has a football club that introduces serious players to more advanced training and competition, I knew it was my chance to take the next big step. Getting to learn from experienced high school coaching staff, lift weights, watch film and play against other elite players is exactly what I need to get me ready for high school ball and on the path to my ultimate dream.
I already spend most of my free time in the weight room, running sprints and doing agility
drills on my own. I watch game film obsessively to pick up new blocking techniques and study opposing defense's tendencies. On top of that, my offensive line idol is Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts. I've pored over footage of his college and pro games more times than I can count. The way he just absolutely demolishes defensive linemen with his power, technique and nasty attitude is poetry in motion that I aim to emulate.
So you can rest assured, if you let me join the football club, you're getting a player who is 100% dedicated and obsessed with the game of football – particularly the art of dominant offensive line play. I'll be the first one at practice and the last one to leave, soaking up every bit of coaching I can get. When we hit the field, you'll never see me loafing a single rep or taking plays off because I respect the game too much for that. I'll go full speed from the first whistle to the last, driving defenders into the ground and getting my team's skill players into open space every chance I get.
Off the field, you'll have zero issues with me academically or behavior-wise. I get straight A's and have never been a discipline problem because I know the importance of ke
eping my priorities in check. My biggest role models in life are hardworking guys like Quenton Nelson who make it big through sheer dedication and grit while still being great teammates and leaders in the community. I try to model those same values in everything I do.
sort of club So in summary, I hope you'll strongly consider my application to join the football club this year. It would mean more to me than you could ever imagine. This is my passion, my obsession, my singular focus in life. Football is quite literally my entire world at this point. With the chance to learn from elite coaching staff and take my game to the next level, there's no telling how far I could go in making my dream a reality of suiting up on the gridiron for a big-time college program or even the pros someday. This is my one shot, so I'll stop at nothing to make the most of it.
