Good morning, everyone! Today I would like to introduce my hometown——Yan’an. First of all, I want to talk something about the location of Yan’an city. There is a map of China, and Shaanxi is here. Yan’an is here. Yan’an is a prefecture-level city in the Shanbei region of Shaanxi province. It administers 13 counties, including Baota District, Ansai District, Yanchang County, Zichang County, Zhidan County, Wuqi County, Ganquan County, Fu County, Luochuan County, Yichuan County, Huanglong County and Huangling County. Yan’an was near the endpoint of the Long March, and became the center of the Chinese Communist revolution from 1936 to 1948. Chinese communists celebrate Yan’an as the birthplace of the revolution. Due to the historical reasons, many of tourist attractions in Yan’an are related to the Chinese Communist Party.
sort of英文So next I will introduce three tourist attractions in Yan’an. The first one is Pagoda Hill. It’s the symbol building of Yan’an. The pagoda was built in the Tang Dynasty, 44 meters high, a total of none, the top board, the whole city can look a panoramic view. The second is the Hukou waterfalls. The Hukou Waterfalls of the Yellow River is the only Yellow Waterfall on earth. The river narrows and cascades dramatically into a stone pond more than 30 meters below, creating the famous Hukou Waterfalls. The third one is Tomb of King Huangdi. Huangdi whose first name was Ji and nickname was Xuanyuan was b
orn in Shouqiu (Qufu City in Shandong Province), and buried on the slopes of Mount Bridge in Huangling County, Yan'an City. He was believed the ancestor of Chinese. The tomb is 3. 6 meters high, 48 meters in periphery,
with a tablet pavilion in front of it, in which stands the tablet with inscription of ‘’The Dragon's Burial Palace on mount Bridge’’. At the foot of the mountain stands the Temple of King Huangdi, Xuanyuan by name, in which grows the cypress tree planted by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.
Then I’d like to introduce two special cultures in Shanbei. One is the Ansai waist-drum. The Ansai Waist Drum is famous around the world, it’s one of the traditional popular arts of northern part in Shaanxi province. The Ansai waist-drum dancing boasts a long-standing tradition and enjoys great popularity in Ansai. Characterized by a variety of drumbeats tempi and accompanied with folk songs, percussion instruments and wind instruments, the unique drum dancing can be generally classified into “soft-swing dancing”and
“martial arts dancing.”The performance scene is quite impressive with diversified arrays which integrate dance, song, gymnastics, and vigorous martial arts movements. It serves as a display of the traits in the character of Northern Shaanxi villagers, who are known far and wide as being valiant, hero
ic, straightforward and uninhibited. This is the cave dwelling which is laid out in rows one atop the other, looki ng like buildings of multiple floors in the distance. It is a sort of distinctive cave house dug into the mountains for dwelli ng of many laboring people on the Loess Plateau in Shanbei. The beauty about th e cave dwellings is that they help mainta in local topography and save on farmland s by making use of space that would hav e been otherwise left unused. They are warm in winter and cool in summer. The temperature inside is usually 13 degrees
Celsius higher than in the open in winte r and 10 degrees Celsius lower in summe r. Moreover, the cave dwellings are sequ estered in peace and quiet as they are s hut from the noise of the outside world. Cave house is praised an outstanding fol k architectural art of the Shanbei. In r ecent years,
