My Adventure with a Foreign Friend in China
Dear Diary,
Today was the most exciting day ever! I had the chance to show my new foreign friend, Lucy, around China. Lucy is from England, and she came to visit our country for the first time. I was so excited to be her tour guide!
First, we went to the Great Wall of China. Lucy was amazed by the wall's size and how long it stretched across the mountains. We climbed up the steep steps together and took lots of pictures. Lucy said it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I felt really proud to share this important part of our history with her.
After that, we visited the Forbidden City in Beijing. It was like stepping into a different world! Lucy couldn't believe how many buildings were inside the palace walls. I explained to her that it used to be the home of emperors and their families a long time ago. We walked through the beautiful gardens and even saw a traditional Chinese dance performance. Lucy loved the colorful costumes and graceful movements.
Next, we traveled to Xi'an to see the Terracotta Warriors. Lucy had seen pictures of them before, but seeing them in person was incredible. We learned that the warriors were created to protect the emperor in the afterlife. It was like a huge army made of clay! We took a lot of pictures and tried to imagine what it would be like to be an ancient warrior.
One of Lucy's favorite experiences was trying Chinese food. We went to a local restaurant and I ordered some of my favorite dishes for her to try. She loved the dumplings, noodles, and especially the Peking duck. Lucy said the flavors were so different from what she was used to, but really delicious. We even learned how to use chopsticks together!
Lastly, we visited the giant pandas in Chengdu. Lucy had seen pandas at the zoo before,
but this was her first time seeing them in their natural habitat. We watched them play, eat bamboo, and roll around. They were so cute and cuddly! Lucy couldn't stop taking pictures of them.
As we said goodbye at the airport, Lucy told me that this trip was the best adventure she had ever been on. She thanked me for being a great tour guide and showing her the wonders of China. I felt really happy knowing that I had made her visit so special.
Today was a day I will never forget. Exploring China with Lucy was not only fun but also a great learning experience. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to show her our beautiful country. I hope someday I can visit her in England and show her the wonders of my own country.
Yours,
[Your Name]

My Foreign Friend's Amazing Trip to China
April 1st, 2023
Dear Diary,
Guess what? My best friend Emma from England came to visit me in Beijing for her spring break! I was super excited because I really missed her. We haven't seen each other since her family moved back to London two years ago.
April 2nd
Emma arrived at the airport this morning with her parents. I gave her the biggest hug ever! After they settled into their hotel, we went to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Emma's jaw dropped when she saw how massive and beautiful the ancient buildings
were. "This is even grander than Buckingham Palace!" she exclaimed. We took loads of pictures in our matching panda t-shirts.
That night, we had an amazing Beijing roast duck dinner. Emma loved the crispy skin but wasn't a fan of the little ducks' heads on the plate. "You Chinese eat everything!" she giggled. I tried to use my chopsticks to show off, but I dropped a piece of duck on my lap. Oops!
April 3rd
Today we visited the Great Wall at Badaling. The steep steps were really tiring, but the incredible views were worth it. We posed like warriors and pretended to defend the wall from invaders. On the way back, we stopped at a museum about the Ming Dynasty and saw ancient weapons like swords and arrows. So cool!
For dinner, we had hot pot and all kinds of yummy ingredients to cook in the boiling broth - mushrooms, beef, quail eggs, noodles, and more. Emma loved dipping everything in the d
ifferent sauce bowls. I had to show her how to eat chicken feet (she was grossed out at first) but ended up liking them!
April 4th
We took a bullet train to Xi'an to see the Terracotta Warriors. The train was like a super fast rocket! The underground pits with thousands of life-sized soldiers were mindblowing. Emma and I made up stories about the warriors coming alive at night like a museum movie.
That evening, we watched a show with ancient dances and music played on old instruments likegongs and flutes. The colorful costumes and ribbon dances were so pretty. Afterwards, we walked around the Muslim Quarter night market and snacked on roujiamo (shredded pork burgers), jian bing (crispy egg crepes), and yummy persimmon candies.
