    My Weekend Plans
    Ah, the weekend - those glorious two days of freedom from the shackles of school and homework! As a 6th grader, I live for the weekends. It's my time to kick back, relax, and do all the fun stuff that isn't allowed during the school week.
    This weekend is shaping up to be an epic one, let me tell you. It's going to be chock full of adventure, shenanigans, and maybe even a bit of responsibility thrown in to appease my parents. But we'll get to that part later.
    First up, on Saturday morning, my best friend Johnny is coming over for an all-day gaming extravaganza. We're talking shoes off, snacks at the ready, and gaming until our ey
es glaze over. The main event will be taking down the Ender Dragon in Minecraft for the zillionth time. Johnny always gets way too excited and starts shouting when the dragon's health gets low. My mom will definitely yell at us to keep it down at some point.
    After gaming for a few hours, we'll take a break and go outside to get some fresh air. We might ride our bikes over to the park and try some stunts on the half-pipe, or maybe a quick game of HORSE on the basketball court if it's not too crowded. Knowing us though, we'll probably just end up wandering the neighborhood looking for unlucky bugs to trap in Johnny's old butter tub terrarium.
    Once we've had our fill of the outdoors, it'll be back inside for another round of gaming into the evening hours. My mom will try to lure us out of my room with the siren's call of pizza for dinner. It almost always works because, come on, it's pizza!
    Then, once it gets dark out, you know we'll be begging to go on a scary movie binge. Moms never like that idea though, so we'll probably just have to settle for a couple cheesy horror comedies. Nothing too intense for my 'rental units, as Johnny calls them.
    Finally, when my eyes can hardly stay open anymore, it'll be time for bed. Mom's orders. I'll sleep like a rock after that jam-packed day of gaming and outdoor fun with my bestie.
    Sunday is when I'll get that pesky responsibility out of the way. Man, Sundays can be such a drag sometimes! I have to buckle down and do my homework and chores so I don't get reamed by my teachers and parents on Monday morning.
    Ugh, homework is definitely the worst part of the weekend. All that reading, writing, and math just puts a major damper on my fun. I'll try to plow through it as quickly as possible so I can enjoy the rest of my Sunday doing whatever I want.
    As for chores, I've got the usual stuff - making my bed, cleaning my room, taking out the trash, and doing the dishes after meals. My mom adds to the list sometimes if she's feeling particularly spicy. It's so unfair! Don't they know growing beings like myself need our rest and relaxation?!sort of order
    If I get everything done in a timely manner though, my parents usually let me have some
free time in the afternoon. I'll probably spend it horizontally on the couch watching TV, reading comics, or playing games on my tablet. Maybe I'll push my luck and ask if Johnny can come back over to hang out again.
    Eventually, as the weekend draws to an unwanted close, I'll be struck with that horrible, pit-in-my-stomach Sunday evening feeling of dread. School is just around the corner, which means quieting my giggly, energetic self and trying to push through another lousy week of lectures, quizzes, and strict rules.
    But you know what? That's just how the cycle goes. I'll take advantage of every second of weekend freedom I can get! Then, once that final school bell rings on Friday afternoon, I'll be refueled and ready to go for another epic weekend expedition. A sixth grader's life may be tough, but I'm living it up while I can!
