A Fantastic Journey from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share with you my amazing trip from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan during the summer vacation. My family and I had an incredible adventure exploring the historical and natural wonders along the way. Get ready for an awesome story filled with camels, sand dunes, and ancient fortresses!
Our journey began in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province. After packing our bags and double-checking that we had everything we needed, we hopped into our car and hit the road. The first stop was the Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves, which are located about 100 kilometers west of Lanzhou. These caves were absolutely mind-blowing! Imagine thousands of Buddha statues and murals carved into the cliffs, some of them dating back over 1,600 ye
ars. It was like stepping into an ancient world frozen in time.
After spending a few hours marveling at the incredible Buddhist art, we continued our drive westward. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with rugged mountains, winding rivers, and vast expanses of desert. I felt like I was traveling back in time, following in the footsteps of the ancient traders who traveled along the Silk Road centuries ago.

Our next stop was the Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park, and let me tell you, it was like something out of a Dr. Seuss book! The park is famous for its incredible rainbow-colored rock formations, which have been sculpted by wind and water erosion over millions of years. The vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow, and green were so vivid and striking against the blue sky. We spent hours hiking through the park, snapping pictures and marveling at the natural wonders around every turn.
After a good night's rest, we hit the road again, our sights set on the legendary Jiayuguan Pass. This massive fortress, built during the Ming Dynasty, was one of the most important gateways to the ancient Silk Road. As we approached the imposing walls and to
wers, I could almost hear the echoes of the merchants, soldiers, and travelers who had passed through these gates centuries ago.
Inside the fortress, we explored the various buildings, towers, and courtyards, learning about the rich history and strategic importance of this incredible structure. I even got to climb up to the top of one of the watchtowers and look out over the vast Gobi Desert stretching out before me. It was like stepping into a scene from an ancient Chinese epic!
But the highlight of our trip was yet to come: a camel ride through the famous Echoing Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring. As we mounted our humped companions, I couldn't help but feel like a real desert explorer. The sand dunes seemed to stretch on forever, undulating waves of golden sand that sparkled in the sun. And when we reached the top of the highest dune, the view was simply breathtaking – a vast sea of sand dunes surrounded by rugged mountains and the stunning Crescent Moon Spring, a crystal-clear oasis in the midst of the desert.
As we rode our camels back to the base, the sound of the sand shifting and "singing" be
neath their feet was like a magical song. I couldn't believe that something as simple as sand could create such a beautiful and haunting melody.
Our journey eventually came to an end, but the memories and experiences we gained along the way will stay with me forever. From the ancient Buddhist caves to the rainbow-colored rock formations, from the imposing Jiayuguan Pass to the iconic sand dunes and camel rides, this trip was a true adventure that opened my eyes to the rich history, culture, and natural wonders of this incredible region.
I can't wait to share more stories and pictures with you all when I get back to school. But for now, I'll just say one thing: if you ever get the chance to travel from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan, do it! It's an experience you'll never forget.

A Fun Adventure from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan!
Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. This summer, my family and I went o
n a super cool trip from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan. It was so much fun and I saw lots of amazing things! Let me tell you all about it.
We started our journey in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province. Lanzhou is famous for its yummy Lanzhou beef noodles. We had some for breakfast before leaving and they were delicious! The noodles were nice and chewy and the beef broth was so tasty. Yum!
After fueling up on noodles, we hopped in our car and headed west towards Jiayuguan. Our first stop was the Binglingsi Grottoes. These are a bunch of old caves and temples carved into the side of a mountain! The carvings were absolutely stunning, with lots of cool Buddha statues and decorations. My little brother tried copying one of the Buddha's hand gestures and it looked really funny.
