Say No to Phone Fun, Hooray for Book Learning!
Hi friends! Today I want to talk about something very important. Phones are everywhere these days - mom has one, dad has one, even grandma is always tapping away on her phone screen! And I'll be honest, those game apps look super fun and watching videos seems really entertaining.
But you know what? I've decided that for me, phones are just too much of a distraction from the things that really matter. Instead of giving in to phone temptation, I'm going to stay focused on learning, reading, playing outside, and having healthy fun the old-fashioned way!
Let me tell you why I've made this choice. First of all, I absolutely love learning new things
tablet screenand doing well in school. Math, science, reading, writing - I enjoy it all! But I've noticed that when I get distracted by a phone, I have a really hard time concentrating on my schoolwork afterwards. My mind keeps wandering back to the videos I watched or the games I played. Not good when I have important tests coming up or homework to finish!
Phones also keep me from spending quality time with my family and friends. Instead of actually talking and playing together, everyone is just staring at their screens in silence. That makes me sad because I love hearing my dad's funny jokes, playing pretend games with my little sister, and riding bikes around the neighborhood with my best bud Steve. Those are the things I'll remember forever, not whatever was happening on a phone screen.
Another problem with phones is that they prevent me from running around and exercising like I should to stay healthy. Sitting inside and staring at a tiny screen for hours gives me a headache and makes my eyes feel weird and strained. Plus, my body starts to feel lazy and sluggish. Yuck!
I much prefer to get outdoors and play tag, build forts, shoot hoops, or explore the woods. That's where the real fun and adventure is at! Breathing fresh air, looking for cool bugs, climbing trees, and using my imagination to create my own amusement. Those are the things that will keep me strong, energized, and ready to learn.
Reading books is another activity I cherish way more than looking at a phone. Getting lost in a fantasy world or learning about dinosaurs and outer space is just so much more captivating than mindlessly scrolling through pictures and videos. Books fire up my imagination and teach me new vocabulary words. Way better for developing my brain!
So in conclusion, I'm making a commitment to limit my phone time as much as possible. For me, phones are just too distracting and not a worthy use of my time and energy. Learning, reading, outdoor exploring, using my imagination - that's what life is all about at this age!
Phones will still be around when I'm older, I'm sure. But right now, I choose to prioritize activites that make me smarter, stronger, closer to my loved ones, and endlessly curious ab
out the world around me. That's true fun if you ask me!
Who's with me? Let's ditch the phone zombies and re-discover our inner adventurers, dreamers and book nerds! Our growing minds and bodies with thank us. Pinky promise!

Title: Staying Focused and Having Fun Without Phones!
Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm a 4th grader. Today I want to talk to you about something that can be really hard for kids like us - not getting too distracted by our phones and tablets. I know those little devices are super fun and we all love playing games and watching videos on them. But if we're not careful, they can take over our lives and keep us from doing other awesome stuff!
I'll be honest, I used to have a really hard time putting down my iPad. When I got home from school, I would just plop down on the couch and start playing games for hours. My parents had to practically pry it out of my hands to get me to do homework or chores. It got
so bad that sometimes I would skip playing outside because I just wanted to keep gaming. Not cool!
Then one day, my dad sat me down and we had a serious talk. He explained that while a little tablet time is okay, too much screen time can really mess with your brain. It's hard to focus on other things when you're constantly thinking about getting back to a game. And sitting for hours staring at a screen isn't good for your body either. You need to run and play to stay healthy!
That talk really made me think. I realized I was missing out on so much fun because of my iPad obsession. So I made a promise to myself to cut back on screen time and find a better balance in my life. It wasn't easy at first, but now I'm so glad I did! Here are some of the things that have really helped me:
Set Screen Time Limits
My parents showed me how to set a time limit for game apps and videos on my tablet. O
nce I hit that limit, the apps are locked until the next day. This has stopped me from losing track of time and playing for too long. We also have a rule of no tablets after 7pm so I can wind down before bedtime.
