Being Addicted to Internet Apps is No Fun!
Hi everyone! My name is Tommy and I'm a 4th grader. I want to talk to you today about something that a lot of kids struggle with – being addicted to apps and games on the internet. It's so easy to get hooked and spend wayyy too much time staring at a screen instead of doing other stuff. Trust me, I know from experience!
When I was in 2nd grade, I got my first tablet and downloaded all these cool games and apps. At first it was just playing them a little bit after school or on the weekends. But then I started playing them more and more until I was on them for hours every single day! I'd wake up and the first thing I'd do is grab my tablet. I'd have it with me at the breakfast table, in the car, at the park, you name it. Anytime I had a free second, my face was glued to that screen.
My parents started getting really mad at me. They'd yell "Get off that tablet and go play outside!" or "No more screen time until you finish your homework!" I never listened though. The games were just too much fun and way more interesting than boring old homework or playing outside. Who wants to do that when you can battle monsters, race cars, and hang out with your buddies online instead? Not me!
Then one day, my awful addiction finally caught up with me. I stayed up until 3am playing games and slept through my alarm clock the next morning. I ended up missing the school bus and my mom had to drive me in late. She was furious and took my tablet away for a whole month as punishment. Nooooo! I was devastated. How could I possibly survive a month without Clash of Clans or Roblox?!
Well, let me tell you – that month was actually kind of nice! At first I missed my games like crazy and felt totally bored. But eventually I started reading books again, playing outside until dark, and even helping my mom cook dinner. I reconnected with my family and friends in the real world instead of online. I even got so much better at focusing in class sin
ce I wasn't constantly thinking about gaming. My grades went up and I had way more free time after school without the tablets sucking up all my days.
When I finally got my tablet back, I made sure to be way more careful about using it. Now I only play games for an hour max after I've finished all my homework and chores. I'll hang out with friends outside whenever I can instead of just chatting online. And I have a strict bedtime for myself where I power everything off and go to sleep. Moderation is key!
The internet and apps can be awesome in small doses. But if you get addicted like I was, they'll just suck all the fun out of your life. You'll stop hanging out with friends, stop playing outside and using your creativity, and stop doing well in school. Is a silly game really worth sacrificing all that for? I don't think so!
So please learn from my mistakes! Set time limits for yourself on games and apps. Don't let them take over and turn you into a zoned-out, lazy, anti-social zombie. Get out and experience the real world. Read books, play sports, make art, learn an instrument or some other skill. You'll end up being much happier and feeling accomplished instead of just wasti
tablet screenng years of your life on fruitless virtual worlds.
The internet can be amazing for learning about the world and keeping in touch with people. But at the end of the day, you've got to live YOUR life, not just some fake digital one. I learned that the hard way after losing an entire year to an unhealthy gaming obsession. Don't make the same mistake I did! Appreciate technology and have fun, but don't let it control you. There's such an amazing real world out there to explore. Don't miss out on it!

Don't Get Hooked on Apps and Online Games!
Hey friends! It's me, Billy. I'm writing this to all my buddies out there who love playing games and using apps on their phones, tablets, and computers. I know how fun and exciting it can be - you get pulled into these amazing worlds of adventure, or you get to play with your friends online. But I've got to warn you, it's really easy to get hooked and spend way too much time staring at those screens!
My parents are always nagging me about "screen time" and trying to limit how long I can play Roblox or watch YouTube videos. For a while I thought they were just being mega lame parents who didn't understand how awesome video games and apps are. But then something happened that made me realize they were right to be worried.
Last summer, I got really into this online multiplayer game. I won't say the name, but it involved building bases, gathering resources, and battling against other players' bases. At first it was just fun to play for an hour or two after school. But then I started wanting to play more and more. I'd sneak my tablet and play at the dinner table. I'd stay up late at night under my covers playing on my phone with the brightness turned down low so my parents wouldn't see.
