    My Adventurous Summer Vacation
This past summer was definitely one of the most exciting and adventurous of my whole life so far! My family and I went on this amazing two-week road trip across several different states. We saw so many cool things and had experiences I'll never forget. Let me tell you all about it!
It started when school let out in late May. My dad came home from work one day and announced over dinner that instead of doing our usual lazy summer at home, we were going to pack up the car and do a huge road trip adventure! At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about being stuck in the car for hours and hours. But then my dad said we'd be stopping at all sorts of awesome places along the way, and I got really pumped up.
The first couple days, we just drove and drove across our home state and the next state over. It was kind of boring just sitting there, but my little brother and I kept ourselves entertain
ed with road trip games, listening to music, watching movies on the tablet, and annoying each other as siblings do. We stopped at a few plain roadside diners for meals, but nothing too exciting yet.
Then we reached our first major destination - the Grand Canyon! I had seen pictures, but I was totally blown away by how massive, deep, and colorful it was in person. We went on a short hiking trail along the rim, and the views were just breathtaking no matter where you looked. That night we stayed in a little cabin resort just outside the national park, and I'll never forget watching the sunset over the canyon. Absolutely gorgeous!
From there, we drove through part of Utah which was kind of dry and boring to be honest. But then we hit Colorado and the scenery got amazing again with the Rocky Mountains! We stopped for a few nights at a fun ski resort town over the summer. My brother and I went toddler tubing and swimming at the resort waterpark, we all went on a trails hike, did a woodsy zipline course, and treated ourselves to delicious meals at the restaurants around town.
After that, the drive started getting really long and tedious as we headed north into Montana. But it was worth it when we arrived at Glacier National Park! We stayed at a rustic cabin lodge right inside the park, surrounded by soaring mountains, crystal lakes, and forests of trees. One day we went horseback riding on a trail that took us up close to some small glaciers. Another day we rented a little boat to go fishing on one of the lakes. Just breathing in that fresh, crisp mountain air was so refreshing and peaceful.
On our way back down through Idaho, we stopped at some awesome natural hot springs resort. It had all these big pools of natural warm mineral water that you could soak and swim in. There was even a little water park area with a lazy river and some fun slides. My skin has never felt more soft and moisturized than after soaking in those mineral hot springs!
Finally, we looped back around through Utah again and made one last stop to see the incredible natural rock arches and landscapes of Arches National Park. We went on a short beginner's level rock climbing tour with a guide which was pretty fun and not too scary. Those gigantic orange sandstone arches looked almost alien or something, it was unreal!
By the time we finally made the long drive back home, we were all pretty tired but so happy with all the amazing sights we got to experience. That trip really opened my eyes to the natural beauty out there and gave me a big appreciation for our national parks. We took a million pictures so I'll always be able to look back and remember every detail.
Things like that are way more rewarding to me now than just sitting around at home all summer playing video games or watching TV like a couch potato. Don't get me wrong, I still love my screen time. But now I know how incredible it feels to get out and explore, exercise my body, fill my lungs with fresh air, and witness the jaw-dropping landscapes in our country with my own eyes. Maybe we'll do another epic road trip again next summer! I'd love to see places like Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Redwood forests, the Rocky Mountain peaks of Canada, New England in he list is endless. The world is so amazing, I want to see as much of it as I can!tablet screen
