    My Life Now vs The Past
    Wow, a lot has changed since I was a little kid! It's crazy to think about how different my daily routine and the world around me is now compared to just a few years ago. Let me tell you all about the biggest changes I've noticed.
    My Daily Schedule
    When I was really little, my daily schedule was pretty simple. I would wake up, have breakfast with my parents, maybe watch a little TV, then head off to preschool or daycare. After school, I'd come home, play outside until dinner, take a bath, and go to bed pretty early since little kids need a lot of sleep.
    Nowadays, my days are much more packed! I wake up earlier to get ready for school. I have to make sure I have all my homework, books, lunch, and anything else I need for the day. The school day itself is longer with more classes like math, reading, science, and social studies. We also have special classes like art, music, gym and computer lab.
    After school, I have a lot less free time. A few days a week I have afterschool activities lik
e sports practice, music lessons, or tutoring. I also have a lot more homework than I used to. Instead of just watching TV after school, I have to make sure I get my homework done, practice my instrument, and read for at least 30 minutes. By the time I've finished all my responsibilities, it's getting pretty late and time for dinner and bed!
    Technology
    Technology has changed so much over the past few years, it's mind-boggling! When I was a toddler, we had an old desktop computer, but it felt like it took forever to start up and load websites or games. My parents rarely let me use it anyway. We also had an old tube TV that only got a few channels.
    These days, I have a tablet that I can use for homework, games, shows - pretty much anything! It's so much faster than that dinosaur desktop we had. We also have a big flat screen TV now that gets hundreds of channels in crystal clear HD picture. Maybe the biggest technology change is that now I have my very own smartphone! It's nothing fancy, just a basic model my parents got me for emergencies and keeping in touch with family. Bu
t still, having my own phone to listen to music, take pictures and video, and communicate with friends feels so high-tech and grown up.
    School Subjects
    When I was in preschool and kindergarten, learning was mostly based around playing games, singing songs, storytime, and getting along with others. We did work on some very basic reading, math, and writing skills. But a lot of our time was spent learning through play and creativity.
    In the older elementary grades, school has gotten a lot more academically challenging. We've moved way beyond the basics into some pretty advanced stuff! In math, we're learning complex multi-step problems, fractions, decimals, and even basic algebra concepts. Reading instruction has shifted to analyzing literature, comparing multiple texts, and advanced writing skills. Science class covers topics like biology, earth science, experimentation, and the scientific method. We didn't study any of those heady topics when I was a young preschooler!
    My Interests
    Speaking of how my interests have changed - man, I was really into some weird things as a little kid! I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs and could tell you every type from the tiny compsognathus to the mighty t-rex. I also went through a phase where I was convinced I would be a superhero when I grew up. Let's not even talk about that embarrassing period where I refused to wear anything but a Ninja
    These days, my big interests are joining every sports team I can like soccer, basketball, and running club. I'm also really into playing video games and teaching myself coding. Dinosaurs and Ninja Turtles are still pretty cool I guess, but I've moved on to more "mature" interests befitting a fourth grader. Although I still cross my fingers every night just in case I develop superpowers!
