    My Daily Life as a 5th Grader
    Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm a 5th grade student. I'm 10 years old and live with my mom, dad, and younger brother Jacob in a house near the park. Today I'll tell you all about my typical day!
    I wake up at 7am every morning when my mom calls me from downstairs. The first thing I do is get dressed for school. I put on my uniform - a white polo shirt, navy blue skirt, and black shoes. Then I brush my teeth and hair.
    At 7:30am, I go downstairs for breakfast. My favorite is waffles or pancakes, but we often have cereal or oatmeal too. I love when my dad makes his special smoothies with banana, st
rawberries, yogurt and orange juice. While eating, I'll watch some cartoons like SpongeBob or talk to my family about my plans for the day.
    After breakfast, I pack up my backpack with my books, homework, lunch box, and water bottle. My mom drives me to school at 8:15am. The ride takes about 10 minutes. I like looking out the window at all the houses, stores, and people we pass. Sometimes we play fun games in the car like "I Spy" or sing along to songs on the radio.
    School starts at 8:30am sharp! My first class is usually math. Math is pretty hard but I'm getting better at multiplying bigger numbers and doing long division. After math, I have reading and writing. We just started a cool new novel about kids who get shrunk down to tiny size! My favorite classes are science and art though. In science, we just started a unit on the solar system and got to make models of the planets. Art class is fun because we get to do all kinds of creative projects like painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, and more.
    We have gym class twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I love gym because we get to play games and sports like kickball, dodgeball, capture the flag, and my favorite - ba
sketball! I'm one of the tallest kids in my class so I can score a lot. At lunch time around 12pm, I meet up with my best friends Sophia and Lily at our usual spot under the big oak tree on the playground. We eat our packed lunches together and chat about our morning classes while we munch.
    After lunch, we have history and geography in the afternoon. Those subjects are pretty boring to me but I try my best to pay attention. Finally at 3pm, the last bell rings and school is over for the day! Once I've gathered up all my books and supplies, I wait outside for my mom to pick me up. She's usually right on time.
    When I get home, I drop off my backpack and head outside to play if the weather is nice. Jacob and I will ride our bikes around the neighborhood or go to the park to play on the swings and slides. Other times we'll play catch or just run around getting our energy out.
    Around 5:30pm, we head inside and I start my homework. I try to get it all done before dinner so I can relax later. If I need help, I'll ask my mom or dad for assistance. We eat dinner as a family at 6:30pm. One of my favorite meals is spaghetti and meatballs. Mmm! A
fter we clean up from dinner, I take a shower and get my pajamas on.
    From 7:30pm to 8:30pm is my free time before bed. I'll read books, play games on my tablet, or watch some TV shows I'm allowed to watch like Henry Danger or The Thundermans. By 8:30pm I'm getting pretty sleepy so I brush my teeth again and go to bed. I set my stuffed animal alarms and snuggle up under my cozy covers. Soon I'm fast asleep, ready to re-charge for another fun day tomorrow!
    That's what an average day is like for me as a 5th grader. It's a nice mix of school, activities, relaxing, eating good food, and spending time with my family and friends. Even though I have to go to school for most of the day, there's still plenty of time for fun and games. I feel very lucky and love my daily life! Well, I better get going now - see you next time!
