Yummy Foods in Xiamen
Hi there! My name is Lulu and I am a 4th grade student from Xiamen, a beautiful city on the southeast coast of China. Today I want to tell you all about the delicious foods we have here in Xiamen. Get ready for your mouth to water!
One of the most famous dishes from Xiamen is called "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall". Doesn't that name sound funny? The dish got its name because it smells so good, even a vegetarian Buddhist monk would be tempted to jump over the wall to eat it! Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is a thick, rich soup filled with lots of expensive ingredients like abalone, sea cucumber, shark fin, Jinhua ham, and chicken. It takes a really long time to make, sometimes up to 12 hours! My grandma makes it for our family every Chinese New Year and
we all look forward to it.
Another really yummy food from Xiamen is oyster omelets. They're called keziahcai in the Minnan dialect. Xiamen is right on the ocean, so we get super fresh oysters. The oyster omelet has a crispy outside and a soft, gooey inside packed with juicy oysters. You eat it with a tangy sauce made from rice vinegar, ginger, and green onions. My favorite place to get oyster omelets is at Zeng Cuo An, which is a little food stand near the beach. I love watching the cooks make them on the big sizzling grill.
For a really unique taste, you have to try Xiamen's fried lumpia rolls. Lumpia is kind of like a fresh spring roll, but the outside is super thin and crispy from being fried. The inside has fillings like pork, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and peanuts. You dip the lumpia rolls in a sweet, tangy sauce. Some people think they're a little stinky, but I love that distinctive smell and flavor!
If you have more of a sweet tooth, try Xiamen's tok-a-bak which are little fried pastries. They're crispy and flakey on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside with a slightly sa
vory filling. My favorite kind has grated coconut inside. Tok-a-bak is a popular street food snack to get from hawker stalls. You can also find stalls selling delicious sugarcane drinks, ginger candies, and other local desserts and sweets.
Those are some of the most popular and tasty dishes in my hometown of Xiamen. We have such a unique cuisine here blending flavors from the ocean, the countryside, and our Minnan culture. Writing this essay has made me really hungry! I hope you get a chance to visit Xiamen and taste all these mouthwatering foods for yourself. Let me know what you think - maybe we can go on a Xiamen food tour together! Okay, time for me to go eat now. See you later!

Xiamen's Delicious Food
spring roll怎么读 Hello everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a 4th grade student in Xiamen, China. Today I want to tell you all about the amazing food we have in my hometown. Xiamen is a beautiful
city on the southeast coast of China, and our cuisine is heavily influenced by the nearby ocean as well as traditions from the Fujian province.
Let me start by telling you about some of my absolute favorite Xiamen dishes! One thing you have to try is our fresh seafood. Since Xiamen is right on the ocean, we get ultra-fresh fish, shrimp, crab, and other seafood every day. My favorite way to eat it is in a seafood soup called shabu shabu. You get a big pot of flavorful broth and then you cook very thin slices of meat and seafood right in the pot at your table. It's so fun and delicious!
Another must-try Xiamen food is oyster omelets. These are made by mixing small oysters into an omelet or fritter batter and frying them up. The oysters get crispy on the outside but stay juicy inside. You can get oyster omelets from lots of street food vendors – just follow your nose to find them! I like to have mine with a bit of sauce drizzled over the top.
If you want a really traditional Xiamen taste, look for dishes with Lord Vegetable. It's not actually a vegetable, but a unique type of preserved radish that has been sun-dried and fer
mented. Lord Vegetable adds an amazing savory, slightly funky flavor to dishes. You'll find it in soups, noodles, braises, and more. My grandma makes the best Lord Vegetable pork ribs - they're sticky, falling off the bone, and bursting with flavor.
