    My Big Dream for the Future
    Ever since I was a tiny kid, I've had a really big dream for when I grow up - I want to open my own candy and dessert shop! I know it might sound a little silly, but I've always loved sweet treats more than anything. Just thinking about colorful lollipops, gooey caramel apples, and thick, creamy milkshakes makes me smile from ear to ear.
    My love for all things sugary started when I was probably around 4 years old. My mom used to take me to this cute little bakery in our town every Saturday morning before she went to work. We'd sit together at a tiny table by the window and share a cinnamon roll or slice of coffee cake. I'd carefully peel off the thick white icing with my fingers and eat it first, savoring every delicious bite. Those Saturday bakery trips were always the highlight of my week.
    As I got a little older, my obsession just grew and grew. By age 6, I was the kid causing trouble by sneaking extra candy from the checkout lane at the grocery store. I constantly had sticky hands and chocolate smeared across my face. My parents were always scolding me, but I couldn't help it - the colorful lollipops and gummi bears called my name!
    These days, I'm 10 years old and even more sweet treat-obsessed than ever before. Every year for my birthday, instead of a normal cake, I ask my mom to make me a giant Rice Krispie treat covered in sprinkles. Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday because I get a huge stash of candy to last me for months. And don't even get me started on the amazingness of an ice cream sundae piled high with gooey fudge sauce, crunchy nuts, fluffy whipped cream, and a cherry on top!
    I've already started doing lots of research to prepare for my future candy shop career. I've watched tons of shows about bakeries and sweet shops on TV. I spent hours looking at pictures online of fancy desserts decorated with edible flowers and sparkly crystallized sugar. My prized possession is this incredibly thick book called "The Sugar Encyclopedia" t
hat has over 1,000 pages describing candies and desserts from all over the world. I read it cover to cover and my favorite sections are about exotic Indian sweets like gulab jamun and French delicacies like petit fours.
    Lately, I've even started trying my hand at baking and candy-making at home. With my mom's help, I've made chocolates, caramels, fudge, and even these yummy little meringue cookies. I'm slowly getting better, but it's pretty tough! Baking is a lot harder than it looks on TV. But I try not to get too discouraged because I know if I keep practicing, one day I'll be a total pro. Maybe I'll even be able to have my very own show on The Cooking Channel!
    If all goes according to plan, here's what I'm imagining for my future sweet shop: First of all, it's going to be huge - like a massive warehouse packed full of every kind of candy and dessert you can dream of. The minute you walk through the doors, you'll be smacked in the face with the most delicious aromas of melting chocolate, baking bread, and sticky, gooey caramel.
    There will be an incredible bulk candy section with hundreds of huge glass jars filled to th
e brim with gummies, jelly beans, lollipops, and those yummy little chewy chocolate mini donuts. Kids will be able to scoop out as many treats as they want with the little paper bags we provide.
    But the main event will definitely be the freshly-made dessert cases that stretch out as far as the eye can see. Rows and rows of glass cases piled high with homemade cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, cake slices, rice krispie treats, marshmallow delights, and so much more. We'll have every flavor you can imagine and lots of seasonal and holiday specials too. Like hot apple pie for fall, chocolatey peppermint treats for winter, and fresh lemon bars for spring!
    There will also be a full-service ice cream counter with a gazillion different flavors and a million crazy toppings. I'm talking everything from classic chocolate and vanilla to more unique tastes like sweet corn, balsamic fig, and cereal milk.
