    My Favorite Season is Summer
    Summer is the best season of the year! I love summer so much. There are so many fun things to do and it's the warmest time of the year. Summer means no more school for a few months. Instead of having to wake up early and go to class all day, I can sleep in late and have all day to play outside and do whatever I want. No more homework or tests for a while!
    The weather in summer is amazing. It's sunny and hot almost every single day. The sky is a pretty blue color and there are barely any clouds. My family opens all the windows in our house to let in the warm fresh air. At night, it cools down just a little bit so it's really nice to sleep. Some summers it gets so hot that we have to turn on the air conditioning, but I actually like when it's super hot out.
    One of the best things about summer is that I can wear shorts and t-shirts every day instead of having to put on sweaters and jackets like in winter. My mom doesn't make me wear socks or shoes either unless we're going somewhere special. I can run around outside barefoot and my feet get so tanned from being in the sun all day. When it's really hot, sometimes my friends and I will have water balloon fights or run through the sprinklers to cool off and get soaked.
    There are so many fun activities and places to go in the summer. My favorite is going to the beach. I love building sandcastles, collecting seashells, and jumping over the waves in the ocean. The water is cold at first but it feels so refreshing once you get used to it. Sometimes we'll have a picnic and eat sandwiches on the beach. Other times we'll roast hot dogs and make s'mores around a bonfire at night.
    The town pool is another one of my favorite summer places. I'm on the swim team so I get to practice almost every day. I've gotten a lot better at swimming over the past few years. The pool has really tall waterslides that are so fun to go down over and over. They have diving boards too where you can try to do flips and cannonballs into the water.

    Summer is also a great time to go camping. My family has a big tent that we'll set up at a campground in the forest or mountains. We roast marshmallows, tell scary stories around the campfire, then sleep under the stars at night. During the day we go on hikes and look for cool bugs or animals like squirrels and deer. One time we even saw a bear from pretty far away which was amazing! Camping is such an adventure.
    Another thing I really love is that my birthday is in the summer, so I almost always have pool parties or outdoor parties for my birthdays. All my friends come over and we'll play games outside, Swimming is my favorite thing to do at pool parties. And of course there's always cake and ice cream and lots of other yummy food and snacks.
    Summer is also a time when a lot of fun events happen in my town. There are carnivals with rides like ferris wheels and rollercoasters that come to the park. We go every year. There are also fireworks shows for the 4th of July holiday where we can watch all the colorful explosions light up the night sky. And every summer there's a big fair with all kinds of games, food trucks, farm animals, and lots of other cool stuff.
    The best part of summer though is that I don't have to go to school! Instead, I can sleep late every morning and stay up as late as I want playing video games or watching movies and shows. There's no homework to do and I don't have to think about schoolwork at all for a few months. My friends and I have total freedom to run around the neighborhood going on adventures and using our imaginations all day. We build forts, play hide and seek, have rocks wars, and never get bored. Summer is the ultimate holiday!
    I wish summer could last forever and ever. It makes me sad when August comes to an end and the weather starts getting a little cooler. That's the sign that summer is almost over. Soon the leaves on the trees will start changing colors and falling off. Before you know it, fall will be here and then it's back to school again. No more sleeping in or staying up late. Winter with its freezing cold and piles of snow will come soon after that. Bleh, I hate winter!
    So that's why summer is definitely 100% my absolute favorite season of the entire year. Those couple of months are the best time ever and I look forward to them all year long. I try
to soak up as much sun and fun as possible before school starts again. Summer is freedom, adventure, and nonstop excitement. I wish it could just go on and on! Maybe if I'm really good, Christmas will bring me a special wish to make summer last forever. Hey, a kid can dream, right?
