    Fall is my favorite season of the year! The weather gets cooler and the leaves on the trees turn beautiful shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown. I love playing in the big piles of crunchy leaves that fall to the ground, kicking them up and watching them swirl around me. My friends and I have competitions to see who can jump into the biggest leaf pile and make the biggest mess. We also like to rake the leaves into huge mountains and take turns burrowing tunnels and forts to play in.
    One of the best parts of fall is celebrating Halloween at the end of October. My mom helps me pick out the coolest, spookiest costume, and I get to go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with my friends. We walk from house to house, ringing doorbells and shouting "Trick or treat!" when the doors open. People give us handfuls of candy like chocolate bars, l
ollipops, gummies, and my favorite - tiny boxes of raisins! I sort through my candy haul when I get home and start eating my favorites right away. Halloween is a fun night filled with dressing up, being a little bit scared, and getting lots of sweet treats.
    The colors of fall are so pretty. The green leaves turn into a rainbow of warm shades before finally falling off the trees. I collect some of the most vibrantly colored leaves to bring home and use for arts and crafts projects. We make leaf rubbings with crayons and construction paper at school by placing a leaf under the paper and rubbing the crayon over top to reveal the intricate designs and patterns in the leaf. I get to take my colorful leaf artwork home and hang it on the fridge for my parents to admire. I also like pressing some of the leaves in a big heavy book to preserve them as they are.
    My birthday is in November, so fall is an extra special time for me. I get to have pumpkin-themed birthday parties most years. We might go to a pumpkin patch or farm and pick our own pumpkins to carve jack-o-lanterns. Sometimes we roast the pumpkin seeds for a tasty seasonal snack. My mom bakes the most delicious pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread, and othe
r pumpkin treats for my birthday that fill the house with the comforting aroma of fall spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. My friends and family come over to celebrate with me, and we play fun outdoor games in the crisp autumn air.
    As fall turns to winter, I get excited for other fun activities and holidays like raking large piles of leaves and jumping in them one last time before the snow falls. I watch eagerly for the first snowflakes of the season and cross my fingers for a snow day off from school soon after. Curling up under a cozy blanket with some hot apple cider and candy corn while the cold winds blow outside is one of the coziest feelings. Fall is truly a marvelous, festive season filled with beautiful natural changes, delicious foods and drinks, family time, and making wonderful memories before winter arrives. I can't get enough of everything fall has to offer!

    Fall is my favorite season! I love when the leaves on the trees turn bright red, yellow, and orange colors. It's so pretty outside. The weather gets cooler too, which is nice after th
e hot summer. My favorite thing about fall is going to the pumpkin patch with my family. We pick out the biggest, roundest, most perfect pumpkin and take it home to carve a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. Carving the pumpkin is super fun and messy! First, we use markers to draw a funny or scary face on the pumpkin. Then, my dad cuts a hole in the top and we all take turns scooping out the slimy pumpkin guts and seeds. It's really gross but in a fun way! After the pumpkin is all cleaned out, my dad carves along the marker lines with a big knife to make the face. Finally, we put a candle inside the carved pumpkin and put it on our front porch. The candlelight glowing through the pumpkin's face looks so spooky at night!
    I also really enjoy going trick-or-treating on Halloween night dressed up in my costume. This year I was a pirate! I had an eye patch, a pirate hat, a fake parrot on my shoulder, and I even had a plastic pirate sword and hook for a hand. My friends and I went around the neighborhood knocking on doors and yelling "Trick or treat!" The neighbors gave us lots of yummy candy like chocolate bars, gummies, hard candies, and my favorite - Skittles! By the end of the night, my plastic pumpkin bucket was totally full of delicious treats. When I got home, I spread everything out to sort through my candy haul. My mom let me eat a few
pieces but I had to save the rest for later. I love Halloween candy!
    Another fun fall activity is raking up the big piles of leaves that have fallen off the trees in our yard. My brother and I work together raking the leaves into one giant pile. Then we take turns jumping and burrowing into the leaf pile, throwing leaves at each other, and burying each other under the leaves. We get all covered in leaves and laugh and laugh. After we're done playing, we have to rake up the leaves again and put them in bags for the yard waste pickup. Raking leaves is hard work but really fun when you get to play in the leaf pile afterwards!

    Autumn is also when Thanksgiving happens. I love Thanksgiving because the whole family comes over for a big feast with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and more! My aunt and uncle and cousins come from out of town to visit us. We watch the big parade on TV in the morning while the grown-ups cook. Then we all eat a humongous meal together at the dinner table. Afterwards, we play games like charades and watch movies while resting off our full bellies. I'm thankful for my wonderful family and all the good food we get to eat at Thanksgiving!
    Fall is the best season ever in my opinion. I make so many fun memories during this time every year. I can't wait for next fall when the leaves change color again, the air gets crisp, and all my favorite fall activities come around once more. Autumn rocks!
