Dickon pushed the wheelchair slowly round and round the garden. He often stopped to show Colin something — green buds, a feather, an empty eggshell.
狄肯推着轮椅在花园里慢慢地转了一圈又一圈。他经常停下来给科林看什么东西——绿花蕾、一根羽毛、一个空蛋壳。
‘I’m going to come back tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after,’ said Colin. Suddenly he pointed to the high wall and said, ‘Who’s that man?’
“我明天会来，后天，后天都会来，”柯林说。突然他指着那堵高墙说:“那个人是谁?”

Mary and Dickon turned and looked. It was Ben Weatherstaff on top of a ladder!
玛丽和狄肯转身看了看。原来是本·威瑟斯塔夫站在梯子上!
‘What are you doing?’ he shouted angrily. ‘How did you get into this garden?’
“你在干什么?”他愤怒地喊道。“你是怎么到花园里来的?”
‘The robin showed me the door!’ Mary shouted back to him.
“知更鸟指给我开的门!”玛丽朝他喊道。
Colin asked Dickon to push his wheelchair over to the wall.
柯林让狄肯把轮椅推到墙上去。
‘Do you know who I am?’ demanded Colin, like the young Rajah. Ben Weatherstaff stared and stared at him but he didn’t say a word.
“你知道我是谁吗?”柯林问，像那个年轻的王公一样。本·威瑟斯塔夫盯着他看了又看，但一句话也没说。
‘Do you know who I am?’ demanded Colin again. ‘Answer!’
“你知道我是谁吗?”柯林又问。“回答!”
Ben Weatherstaff’s voice was shaking when he replied.

‘I know who you are. You look like your mother. You are the poor hunchback.’

Colin’s face went red.
科林的脸变红了。
‘I’m not a hunchback!’ he cried angrily. ‘I’m not! Dickon! Come here!’ Dickon went up to him and took his arm. Then slowly Colin stood up.
“我不是驼背!”他生气地叫道。“我不是!”迪康!来这里!狄肯走过去抓住他的胳膊。然后科林慢慢地站了起来。
‘Look at me!’ he said to Ben Weatherstaff. Ben looked at the boy and his old eyes filled with tears.

‘It’s true,’ he said. ‘Your back is as straight as young Dickon’s.’

Then Colin said: ‘This is my garden now. Come in here. I want to talk to you. Be quick!’

‘Yes, sir!’ said Ben and came down the ladder.

Colin was sitting on the grass under a tree when Ben Weatherstaff came through the door. The old man was smiling now.

‘Here I am, young master,’ he said.

‘This was my mother’s garden,’ Colin said.’’But it’s my garden now and I’m going to come here every day with Mary and Dickon.

You can come and help us, but no-one must see you.
你可以来帮助我们，但不能让人看见你。
‘Yes, sir,’ said Ben.

Mary’s trowel was on the grass next to Colin. He picked it up and he began to dig.
玛丽的铲子放在科林旁边的草地上。他把它捡起来，开始挖。
‘Do you want to plant something?’ asked Ben. ‘Perhaps a rose?’
“你想种点什么吗?””本问。“也许玫瑰?”
‘Yes!’ said Colin, digging excitedly. ‘Go and get me one! Quick! Quick!’
“是的!柯林说，兴奋地挖着。“去给我拿一个来!”快!快!”
Ben Weatherstaff brought a rose in a pot from the greenhouse. Dickon made the hole in the earth with a spade and Mary brought a watering-can. Then Colin put the rose in the hole and Ben pushed the earth down.
本·威瑟斯塔夫从温室里拿出盆里的玫瑰。狄肯用铲子在地上挖了个洞，玛丽拿来了一个水罐。然后科林把玫瑰放进洞里，本把土压下去。
‘It’s planted!’ said Colin. ‘And the sun is starting to go down. Help me, Dickon! I want to stand.’
这是种植!”科林说。太阳开始落山了。帮助我,迪康!我想站起来。”
Dickon helped him to stand up and, when the sun finally disappeared, Colin was on his two feet laughing.
狄肯扶他站起来，太阳最后消失时，柯林站着笑了起来。
