The Story of Jiang Xue
Once upon a time, there lived a family of three in a small village. The eldest was a man named Jiang Xue, who worked hard everyday to provide for his wife and son. Although his life was far from easy, Jiang Xue was happy and content with his lot.
One cold winter day, Jiang Xue was returning home from work early, due to exceptionally heavy snowfall. On his way, he stopped at a lake nearby to admire the calming beauty of the snow-draped landscape. He could see droplets of water suspended in mid-air, as if forming a bridge between heaven and earth.
Taken aback by this magnificent site, Jiang Xue reached out his hand to try and touch the magic. Suddenly, he heard a voice echo from across the lake, “Jiang Xue, don’t be afraid. You are a brave man and I am here to give you a magical power - the power to turn snow into pearls.”
Jiang Xue stood there in awe, listening to the mysterious voice. He didn’t understand how this had happened, but he was determined to make the best of it.
Without wasting any time, Jiang Xue rushed home to tell his family the good news. He gathered his family around him and shared with them the magical power he had been gifted. All of them were delighted to hear this and excited to see the pearls that Jiang Xue would create.
For the rest of winter and all of spring, Jiang Xue went out every day to gather snow and transform it into beautiful glistening pearls. On the coldest days, he could be seen walking around the lake, gathering snowflakes in his hands until his palms were filled with the sparkling gems.

Jiang Xue’s story is forever etched in the hearts and minds of the village folk, who tell the tale of his brave and kind deeds to their children to this very day.
