As 做副词和介词的用法：
一、(used in comparisons and examples ) equally ; like
He ‘s not as old as me .
He’s as strong as an ox.
She ‘s clever , but her brother is just as clever .
I only like small animals ,such as cats and dogs .
The disease attacks such animals as cats and dogs .
二、in the condition of ; when considered as being
I like her as a person , but I don’t think much of her as a writer .
He works as a farmer.
This is regarded as (=thought to be ) his best film .
She was dressed as a man .
Speaking as a teacher ,I am in favour of these reforms .
His talents as a film actor were soon recognized.
Several businesses went bankrupt as a result of the oil crisis.
As 做连词的用法
一、（used in comparisons）
She doesn’t run as fast as she used to .
He works in the same office as my sister.
I was as surprised as anyone when they offered me the job .(=no one was more surprised
comparisonsthan me )
Two is to four as four is to eight .
二、In the way or matter that
Do as Isay !
He was late ,as usual .
David ,as you know (=and you know this ) , is a photographer.
As I said in my last letter ,I am taking the exam in July .
三、When ; while
He saw her as he was getting off the bus .
As the election approached , the violence got worse .
四、Because
As she has no car , she can’t get there easily .
五、Though
Improbable as it seems, it’istrue .
Tired as Iwas ,I tried to help them .
(esp. AmE) as popular as he is , (=even though he is popular) the president has not been able to get his own way on every issue.
六、(With so or such), showing a result
So cold as to make swimming impossible .

七、(showing a purpose)
He ran away so as not to be caught .
八、As against (in comparison with )

九、As for (有时候表示贬义，用在改变话题或对象的时候) when we speak of (至于。。。；说
到。。。)
You can have a bed ;as for him , he’ll have to sleep on the floor.
十、As if /as though
1.As it would be if ( things were true ) 仿佛，好像，就像
I couldn’t move my legs .it was as if they were stuck to the floor .
Why doesn’t she buy us a drink ?it isn’t as if she had no money .( =she has plenty of money ).
2．in a way that suggests that (something is true)
He shook his head as if to say “ don’t trust her”.
We’ve missed the bus .it looks as if (=it seems ) we’ll have to walk .
3.(showing a strong negative )
“H e’s gone .““as if I cared !”(=I don’t care at all).
十一、as it is :
1. in reality ; in the situation that actually exists:
We had hoped to finish it today , but as it is , we probably won’t finish until tomorrow .
十二、as of/as from : starting from (the time stated)
As of today , you are in charge of the office .
十三、as to :on the subject of ; concerning
He’s very uncertain as to whether it’s the right job for him .
