我不由得停住了脚步。
I couldn’t help but halted my footsteps.

I had never seen such a lush growth of Wisteria vines.
只见一片辉煌的淡紫，像一条瀑布，从空中垂下，不见其发端，也不见其终极。
It was the splendor of a large piece in light purple draping from the sky like a waterfall, and where it began or ended was nowhere in sight.
只是深深浅浅的紫，仿佛在流动，在欢笑，在不停地生长。
Dark and light purple colors were intertwined, seemingly flowing, roaring and flourishing.
紫的大条幅上，泛着点点银光，就像迸溅的水花。
These large purple scrolls were splattered with silvery spots like splashed water drops.
仔细看时，才知道那时每一朵紫花中最浅淡的部分，在和阳光互相挑逗。
A closer look revealed each of them was the palest bit of every purple flower dancing with sunlight.

Each fully-blown flower was like a wind-filled sail with a pointed and puffed-up hull below. It also looked like a smiley straight face ready to break out into an all-out laughter.
那里装的什么仙露琼浆？我凑上去，想摘一朵。
What kind of magic potion would be held inside it? I walked up and thought about plucking a flower.

但是我没有摘。我没有摘花的习惯。
But I did not pick one. Picking flowers was not my habit.
我只是伫立凝望，觉得这一条紫藤萝瀑布不只在我眼前，也在我心上缓缓流过。
I just stood and stared. I felt this Wisteria vine waterfall not only existed in front of my eyes but it was
also alive and flowing in my heart.
流着流着，它带走了这些时一直压在我心上的焦虑和悲痛，那是关于生死谜、手足情的。
It continued to flow and carry away the anxiety and sorrow weighing in my mind which related to life-
and-death and sibling-love matters.
我沉浸在这繁密的花朵的光辉中，别的一切暂时都不存在，有的只是精神的宁静和生的喜悦。
I was indulged in the glow of those densely grown flowers. For the moment everything else around me seemed to have ceased to exist except spiritual tranquility and bliss of life.

这里除了光彩，还有淡淡的芳香，香气似乎也是浅紫的，梦幻一般轻轻地笼罩着我。
Other than glistening colors, this place was also permeated with a faint fragrance. The fragrance seemed
to have a light-purple touch and softly enveloped me like a dreamy haze (2).
忽然记起十多年前家门外也曾有过一大株紫藤萝，
Suddenly I recalled ten years ago we once had a large Wisteria vine outside of our house.
它依傍一株枯槐爬得很高，但花朵从来都稀落，东一穗西一串伶仃地挂在树梢，好像在试探什么。It attached itself to a wilted locust tree and climbed very high, but its flowers were always sparse and scattered all over the tree top as if they were probing something.
后来索性连那稀零的花串也没有了。
At the end, even the few flowers disappeared altogether.
园中别的紫藤花架也都拆掉，改种了果树。
Other Wisteria vine frameworks in the garden were also taken down and fruit trees were grown in their places.
那时的说法是，花和生活腐化有什么必然关系。
The saying at that time was flowers had a certain relationship to the deterioration in lifestyle.
我曾遗憾地想：这里再也看不见藤萝花了。
I regretfully thought I could no longer see Wisteria vine flowers around.

过了这么多年，藤萝又开花了，而且开得这样盛，这样密，紫的瀑布遮住了粗壮的盘虬卧龙般的枝干，不断地流着，流着，流向人的心底。
After so many years, Wisteria vines flowered again in so very vibrant and dense manner. The waterfall of vines shielded the twined and stout tree branches from view and touched our souls (3).

Flowers and people alike would run into all kinds of adversities but the river of life would continue with no foreseeable end.
我抚摸了一下那小小的紫的花舱，那里满装生命的酒酿，它张满了帆，在这闪光的花的河流上航行。
I patted the little flower’s pouch filled with liquid of life and fancied it was navigating in full sail on a sparkling river of flowers.
它是万花种的一朵，也正是一朵一朵花，组成了万花灿烂的流动的瀑布。
It was only one flower among thousands of different types, but it was the one which, together with thousands of others, composed the dazzling waterfall in flowing.

In the midst of the seemingly light-purple glow and fragrance, I unconsciously quickened my steps.

注解：
1.“赏花的人”直译为“crowds of flower viewers”，但不够地道和没有“赏”的成分，所以改
为“visiting flower lovers”.
2.“梦幻一般轻轻地笼罩着我”直译为“lightly cover me like a dream”但英文似乎是无厘头，因为
“dream”不是实质不能够“cover”一个人，“dreamy haze –“梦的一般雾”是适用于这里的地道英文片语。
3.“不断地流着，流着，流向人的心底”是隐喻的说法，不然直译“continuously flowing and
flowing into the bottom of people’s hearts”是没有意义的，我认为意思是“触动我们的心灵”所以翻译为“touched our souls”。
