Michael Packard is a professional diver. One day, he was swallowed (吞) whole by a whale. He stayed inside its mouth for dozens of seconds.
The whale, swimming off the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, US, then coughed Mr Packard out, according to a report.
Mr Packard, 56, was about 14 metres below the surface of the water as usual on Friday when the whale tried to turn him into breakfast, the Cape Cod Times reported.
“All of a sudden, I felt a huge push and the next thing I knew was it was completely dark.” Mr Packard said.
His first thought was that he had been snapped (猛咬) up by a great white shark. Mr Packard said he thought to himself, “This is it. I’m going to die.”
I thought to myself, “There’s no way I’m getting out of her. I’m done. I’m dead. All I could think of was my children—they’re 12 and 15 years old.”
But when he realized he could feel no teeth, he began struggling and felt the whale shaking his head in discomfort. Within 40 seconds the whale spat (吐出) him back into the ocean.nearby
“I saw light,” Mr Packard said, “I can’t believe I got out of the situation.”
His boating pal, Josiah Mayo, pulled Mr Packard out of the sea, and rushed him to a hospital, where he was treated for soft-tissue (软组织) damage to his leg. Amazingly, Mr Parkard said he felt just fine after his remarkable getaway.
An expert said the whale may have swallowed Mr Packard accidently, not seeing the diver while its mouth was open wide to scoop up little fish.
