How to improve the quality of education
How to improve the quality of education is a hot topic in our society. Some people say that high school students should be encouraged to evaluate and criticize their teachers. But some other people disagree with such a method, which will result in loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. In this essay, I would like to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this method and give some suggestions.
There are lots of merits to encourage students to express their opinions openly in the classroom. One of reasons is that such action can give teachers more pressure, which will makes them work harder and try their best to reduce mistakes. For example, teachers should be more careful and responsible of what they are teaching and read more books to enrich their knowledge. The other reason lies in these evaluations will give students more freedom, courage, and confidence, which will influence them positively in a long term. There is lots of obvious evidence by comparing the educational system in western countries and that in China. The first one encourages the evaluation, under which most of the students are more confident and brave. But most of the students under Chinese educational system are coward and lack of the courage to express their opinions.
But like every coin has two sides, the open criticism and evaluation will produce lots of bad influences. The first shortcoming is these actions will incur mess and discipline in the classroom. For instance, students may insult their teachers in the process of evaluation, which is the sign of unrespectable action. The other drawback is that some teachers may be pay more attention to the pleasure of students rather than teaching quality, which will d
o harm to the development of pupils.
In my opinion, I support the encouragement of open evaluation, though youths should be careful of the degree by which all the students should abide. Also we can find that the critical system pay more emphasizes on the aspect of teachers rather than the students. We know that the improvement of educational quality lies in the efforts from both students and teachers, so both of them should work in groups to enhance the quality of education.
