America—nation of immigrants and China—nation of multinationality
As what we have learned, the American is a new race of individuals of all nations, who acts upon new principles; he must entertain new ideas, and form new opinions, from this sentence, we can know that America is a nation of immigrants and liberty, where various immigrants have worked together to build a unique nation. to understand the nation of immigrants, we shall have a look at the past of America. 
    With the development of European capitalism, the Europeans began tm expand their range of power, which led to the discovery and immigrant of America. The first European immigrants in American history came from England and the Netherlands. Later, the desire to escape economic hardship, political oppression and religious persecution in their native countries as well as the desire to seek a better education and life attracted an increasing number of immigrants of other counties flocking to American continent, where they established their American Dream----the dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone with equal opportunity for each according to ability, that is, Equality, Liberty and Freedom. It is the American Dream that forms the values of American p
eople, which is quite different from Chinese community. First, obviously, the value of individualism is the social value of Americans, they tend to take risks and focus on the satisfaction of their own desire and interests through self-reliance, and they play high value on personality. Individualism has been influencing American immigrant society and has penetrated into every aspects of American life. And the second difference is the social conflicts. American have been enriched by the customs and ideas of immigrants, which put America into a dynamic position. Because of the various native cultural, political,religious, social patterns and attitudes brought by the immigrants, there are more and more cultural conflicts with the mainstream of American culture, these conflicts are caused by the facts that the immigrant culture can not adapt to the American culture. 
    Compared with America, China, a ancient nation with five-thousand-year civilization, is a united multi-national country composed of fifty-six ethic groups. Unlike the individualism of Americans, Chinese people place much value on the "work in unity and close cooperation ",  which is rooted in the Confusionism and becomes the essential principle ne of chinese descendants. They tend to unite together and help each other instead of private interests; t

People of fifty-six ethnic groups can get well along with each other, so there are fewer cultural conflicts among them, which can be illustrated from the ancient Confusion concept of "harmony is precious". Lastly, another distinctness is the enforcement of rights----Ethnic Regional Autonomy System with Chinese characteristics. Although the population of Chinese minority population is few in number, they have the equal rights with Han Nationality in every field of social life, the Ethics Regional Autonomy System assure the minority free to use and develop their own languages and hold their traditional religious activities; they also have the autonomy in the trade, cultural, financial and economic matter, all of these is quite different from American immigrant community. 
    Recently, however, with Chinese outstanding performance in the world stage, especially in the economic aspects after the worldwide financial crisis, an increasing number of people immigrates into China, we need to take in others' essentials and abandon wastes to improve and protect Chinese characteristic culture.
