Offered by: School of computer science and technology
for: Computer science and technology Prerequisite: Computer network
1. Objective
This course is a practical course of computer network. It aimed at the core computer network equipment. The course includes basic concepts, command
of
routers and switches. It requires in advance to master the basic principles, protocols and other basic concepts of computer networks.Based on these basic concepts, the students should learn how to reali
ze a network system. Through the course of study, students can more deeply understand and master the principles and basic concepts, while enhancing the practical ability to projects.
2. Course Description
(1).Review the course of computer network.
(2) Understand the overall framework and system architecture of the router and switches.
(3) Master the basic configuration steps of router and switch. (4) Master how to remove the error of router network.
(5) Master the common configuration commands of router and switch. (6) Through experiments to build and implement a practical network. 3. Topics
The first part: Become familiar with the basic network knowledge of a PC computer system Identify PC connections including network attachment Examine the
internal PC network configuration Use some commands to find out information about the PC network
The second part: Learn the proper sequence for troubleshooting computer and network problems.Become familiar with the more common hardware and software problems. Given a basic problem situation, be able to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. Name the five different classes of IP addresses Describe the characteristics and use of the different IP address classes
The third part: The second part: Understand the physical layer components of a router.Describes techniques for physically connecting the various router interfaces.Connect a PC to a router using a console or rollover cable Identify and locate the proper cables to connect the router and PC to a hub or switch. Use the cables to connect the router and PC to the hub or switch. Identify and locate the proper cables to interconnect the routers.
The fourth part: Become familiar with the Cisco IOS software. Become
familiar with the CLI environment.Configure HyperTerminal to establish a console session with the router.Understand the initial process of a router bootup.Identify the three distinct operating environments or modes of the Cisco IOS devices.
The fifth part: Configure an Ethernet interface on the router with an IP address and a subnet mask.Choose a description for an interface and use interface configuration mode to enter that descripti
on.Configure static routes and default routes between routers to allow data transfer between routers without the use of dynamic routing protocols.Become familiar with the Dynamic Routing protocols. Configure the RIP dynamic routing protocol on routers.Configure the IGRP dynamic routing protocol on routers.
The sixth part: Configure, and apply a standard ACL to permit or deny specific traffic.Configure, and apply an extended ACL to permit or deny specific traffic.Create a named ACL to permit or deny specific traffic.Plan, configure, and apply a ACL to permit or deny specific traffic and test the ACL to determine if the desired results were achieved.
The seventh part: Create a basic switch configuration.Manage the switch MAC
table.Create and verify a basic switch configuration.Configure port security on individual FastEthernet ports.Create two VLANs, name them and assign member ports to them.Test functionality by moving a workstation from one VLAN to another.Remove an interface from a VLAN and Delete a VLAN
The eighth part: Configure a router to use network address translation (NAT) to
convert internal IP addresses, typically private addresses, into outside public addresses. Configure a r
outer to use Port Address Translation (PAT) to convert internal IP addresses, typically private addresses, into an outside public address.Configure a router for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to dynamically assign addresses to attached hosts.
