Fencing (击剑运动) is a one-on-one sport. Fencers use three different weapons: the foil, the sabre and the epee. Each weapon is used differently. I use the epee. With the epee, fencers can score on the whole body from head to toe. With the sabre, fencers can score on any part of the upper body but not on the hands. With the foil, fencers can only score on
a few parts of the body. They can’t hit the arms, legs, neck or head. It is popular in the United States.
Here, one of the biggest fencing events is the Junior Olympics. This year, it took place in Denver, the capital of Colorado.
I went with my teammates, Anacan and Cameron. We fenced in a team event. Both of them are great fencers, as well as good friends. As this may be their last team event before going to college, all of us wanted to play well. We warmed up and felt ready to take on the rest of the fencers.
