A choice between knowledge from books and experience
It has been said, “Not every things that is learned is contained in books.” Recently, there has been much dispute over the question of the ways of gaining knowledge. Some people argue that people should require knowledge from experience while others, hold an opposite view, believing that knowledge gained from books is a better way for them to explore more useful and creative stuffs. In my opinion, it is incomprehensive and unilateral for both of the above views. I consider that gaining knowledge from experience is as important as from books.
Basically it is ground to say that book knowledge plays an essential role in one’s growth. Nobody can deny the effective and considerable results that we have achieved from book learning in our growing path. For instance, we could not learn the overall knowledge of Chinese and English more detailed and systematic without the academic knowledge in schools. In addition, with the help of book knowledge, people can easily gain the useful information that they are interested in and looking for. Therefore, the indispensable and undeniable reason for the basic knowledge learning is the guidance of books. Thus, it is reas

  As we know, gaining knowledge through experience is a common and valid approach to obtain various practical skills. It is generally assumed that it seems different when you put your book knowledge into practice. For example, as an English major student, I have learned ample knowledge about English grammar, pronunciation and etc. in my college, but it is useless for us to improve our spoken English skills if we have no experience to communicate with others, especially English-spoken foreigners. Definitely, it is obvious that people can learn much knowledge and valuable skills through kinds of experience. There is a famous saying goes, “experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action. We cannot learn men from books.” Thus, gaining knowledge from experience is also very important for us.
  All in all, I assume that if we can well combine the book knowledge with the experience, absolutely, we will achieve the best result. I appeal to everyone, especially university stude
nts, to grasp the basic knowledge from books earnestly to put them into practical use skillfully.
