第一课时clothes和clothing ( Welcome to the unit )
Objectives: To introduce the main topic of the unit.
To learn some basic vocabulary to talk about clothes and materials.
Presentation:
(The teacher can wear in fashion like wool sweaters, silk scarves, cotton coats, leather boots)
1. Present the names of clothes.
What’s the weather like today? It’s cold. What season is it? It’s winter.
What clothes do you wear in winter/summer/spring/autumn?
2. Present materials.
Look at my sweater. It is warm. What is it made of? It’s made of wool.
What about my jeans? They are made of cotton.
What about my scarf? It’s made of silk.
What about my boots? They are made of leather.
Practise:
A: Look at my coat, it’s made of cotton. What is your coat made of?
B: My coat is made of wool. My trousers are made of cotton. What are your trousers made of?
C: My trousers are made of…

第二课时 ( Reading 1 )
Objectives: To locate specific information by scanning the text.
To predict overall meaning from Ss’ own background and knowledge.
To read for specific information and to think about related points.
To guess the meaning of specific words from the contest.
Presentation:
Do you remember Su Mingjuan? Where’s she from? She’s from the poor area in China. Do children from poor areas have enough stationary to use? Do they have enough money to buy stationary? What can we do to help them? We can collect some stationary/donate our pocket money. Do you know what the students did in Millie’s class? Let’s listen to the tape.
1. Ss listen to the tape and answer the questions.
a. What did the Class 1, Grade 7 students do last Friday/
b. What did they do that for?
2. Read quietly and do P.91 C2.
3. Read after the tape and do P.90 B and P.90 C1.
4. Read in chorus and answer more questions. ( See P. T89). Then fill in a form
5. Read quietly again and find the main topic of each paragraph.
6. Retell the text with the help of the main idea.
第三课时 ( Reading 2 )
Teaching steps:
1. Revision. Read the text and answer the following.
a. What did the Class 1, Grade 7 students do last Friday?
b. Why did they give a fashion show?
c. What did the Ss wear? ( They wore clothes from different times in the 20th century.)
2. Discussion: People wear different clothes at different times in the 20th century. Do you want to know what they wore?
1960s----military uniform with short hair
1970s----blue uniform called Zhongshan uniform, women have long hair in twists (麻花辫)
1980s---white trousers, colourful shirts, colourful dresses, white shoes, women have long hair in ponytails
1990s---black skirt, red blouse, red boots, t-shirts, jeans, trainers…
now----different kinds of clothes and colourful shoes
3. Making an interview.
Work in pairs. Suppose one of you is a journalist from JSTV, the other is Millie/ Kitty/Daniel…
, make an interview. Use the questions on P. T89 to help you.
4. Finish P. 91 D in the book.
5. Extension activity:
Ss work in small groups, have a talk about the following topics.
a. What’s your favourite fashion?
b. What do people wear at school/at work/at the party/at the sports meeting?
第四课时 ( Vocabulary )
Objectives: To recognize adjectives that describe clothing.
To use adjectives to express opinions about how things look.
Teaching suggestions:
1. Use a vocabulary tree to review the vocabulary.
a. clothing: clothes, cap, hat, tie, scarf, blouse, shirt, T-shirt, sweater, coat, jacket, skirt, dress, suit, uniform, swimsuit, trousers, jeans, shorts, socks, gloves, boots, shoes, trainers, hair clips, glasses, costume
b. colours: red, white, black, yellow, blue, orange, purple, grey, green, brown, pink
c. materials: cotton, silk, wool, leather, fur, plastic, nylon
2. Talk about the Ss’ clothes in class.
What are you wearing today? ( I’m wearing a sweater.)
What colour is it? ( It’s green. )
What’s it made of? ( It’s made of wool.)
------I’m wearing a green wool sweater today.
Get the Ss to work in groups of 4 and ask each other: What are you wearing today? Get some Ss to report their information to the class.
第五课时 ( Grammar 1 )
Objectives: To recognize and use the simple past tense of verb “to do”.
To recognize typical contests which use the simple past tense.
A. Presentation:
1. I had a really good weekend last Sunday. Did you have a good weekend?
I went shopping last Sunday. What did you do? (Help the student to answer: I watched TV/ played computer games/I listened to the radio…)
