Analysis of the Teaching Material | What: Theme: Human and self Content: It shows the six words about clothes — skirt, shirt, dress, hat, pants, clothes, and the functional sentences that express one’s preference to clothes, e.g, I like that\those… by presenting the situation where Amy and Sarah visit a clothing store. Why: Intentions & The semantic meaning: To guide students to describe their preference to relative clothes and cultivate students’ correct view of clothing: Dress comfortably, dress suitably and learn to do what they can do by themselves, such as washing your skirt, hanging up your dress , putting away your pants and so on. How: Structure: It consists of two parts(Let’s learn & Let's do ). In Part 1, there is an informal dialogue which leads to the topic. In Part 2, present five phrases to arouse students’ labor consciousness. | ||
Analysis of the Target pupils | The target pupils are the English learners in Grade 4. They have certain vocabulary. And they are good at some simple greetings and conversations. They are able to participate in class games and activities in an orderly manner. They are active,imaginative but they have limited cognition. From the perspectives of their background knowledge, present difficulty and breakthrough methods, I adopt SWOT model to analyze the learners. Strengths: They are familiar with the topic and have mastered some words about colour. They are able to get up to speed to give a simple conversation about clothes preference. Weaknesses: They have difficulty in discrimination about similar clothes and understanding actions about Part 2. Opportunities: They have the willingness to help parents do housework and try to do what they can clothes和clothingdo by themselves. Meanwhile, they will learn to cherish their life and help other students in poor areas by donating old clothes. Threats: To improve their capacity of listening & reading as well as fostering logical and critical thinking is a challenge. | ||
Teaching Philosophy & Methods | This class is closely related to students’ daily life. So I present this class by Direct Method, Audio-lingual Method, TPR, Situational Approach, Communicative Approach and Task-based Language Approach.In teaching process, I also attach importance to the integration of information technology and disciplines , and induce new knowledge through old knowledge and actual situation to arouse students’ learning interests, develop a good habit in learning and cultivate students’ capacity in application towards target language. | ||
