Secret Garden  Nationality: USA  Author: Frances Hodgson Burnett  Genre: Fiction
Mary Lennox is a not that pretty girl, she is arrogant and impolite. She is born in a rich family but her parents pay little attention to her. She hides in a room when they have party. However, a disease breaks out and all the person in that ball dies and Mary is the only survivor. She is sent to someone’s family for a short time, but she hates that family thinking they are untidy. Then she is sent to another family in Yorkshire. Ten years ago, her uncle Craven lost his wife who died of falling in that garden, so he locked up the garden. In addition, Mary meets her cousin Colin, who is ignored by his father and has a bad health condition. Mary takes him to the garden and Colin struggles to get back his feet. At the end of the book, Mary ,Colin and Mr Craven returns to the garden.
The most impressive part I think is maybe the transformation that takes place on Mary, she is a impolite and inconsiderable girl, causing a lot of problems at first. Gradually, she changes herself, she begins to be in good manner, tries to help others, and starts to get to know others’ thinking. Also, Colin does a good job, he abandons himself at the beginning, but after
he meets Mary, he has his own mind to be strong, to gain his father’s love, help to ease his father, and gain his happiness in the end.
