The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of the most popular books for children. It was first published in 1876.It described children’s psychology and compare it with vulgar petty bourgeois’ life to emphasize their insipid life.Overall, this book reveals the
stagnation of local life in the United States and religious hypocrisy. We can see the society from this book.In terms of writing, this book uses abstract and exaggeration to stress the profound irony and conservative life at that time.
Mark Twain was born on the thirtieth of November in 1835 in a remote rural Missouri Monroe county.Although he did not have a large sum of money,he was kno
wn as one of the most famous people in America for his wisdom and reputation. He was the representative of critical realism literature in the late 19th century in America. The Million Pound Note and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are his another two literary works.
No matter how old one is,he is eager to be Tom Sawyer in other side of his heart.I think this book awakens people’s emotion in the bottom of their heart. If somebody owns a happy childhood,he owns the whole world. When we are in trouble,we should not give up.We should insist on doing it.Childhood is like a glass of red wine. When you grow up,you will feel its good smell and remember it forever. We need to fight for our own dream. We need to have our personal adventures. In fact, sometimes naughty child just reflects the child's naivete.
After reading this novel, I think a man should be upright, honest, be calm when encounter difficulties and have the courage to try to solve the problem. We can show our individualism, but individualism does not mean you can sacrifice other’s rights. This book is not only for children, but also for adults. When we look back on our childhood,The adventures of Tom Sawyer really gives us a feeling of excitement.
Tom Sawyer was a naughty boy and he often came up with strange and creative ideas so his aunt had no way to deal with him.He always had ways to keep away from punishment. One day,he met Becky and fell in love with her immediately. He made friends with the Huck who was not like by adults because his father had bad reputation.
One evening,Tom and Huck went to a cemetery. They happened to meet Joe, Robinson and Potter.Joe killed Robinson and he let people think the murderer was Potter by putting the knife in Potter’s hand..Tom felt afraid at first because Joe might kill him if he told the truth. He faced many problems and he felt that he was deserted by the people and the whole world. As a result ,he decided to be a pirate with Huck o
n a distant island.People thought they were dead. However,he overcome his fear and selfishness,so he turned up and told the truth.Unfortunately,Joe was not caught because he ran away quickly.Later ,Tom went picnicking with Becky but they lost their way in a cave. Finally, they were saved by villagers and they told the villagers Joe was still in the cave. When they tried to find Joe, he had already starved to death in the cave.Tom and Huck found the treasure in the cave and they became rich.
Huckleberry Finn:He is the son of a abusive and drunkard father who left the town.He has failed to be raised with any parental guidance or authority figures because he never goes to church or school. He is the envy of all the schoolboys but the nightmare of the mothers in the town.He and Tom are good friends and they both believe in various superstitions. They spend a lot of time together. They even wa
nt to be pirates!Although he is not accepted by social people,he still shows us a kind spirit and his adventurous individualism.
Tom Sawyer:He is a boy who loves challenging things and adventures. He dares to admit his faults after doing wrong things. We can see the whole process that a naughty boy turns into a little hero. His bravery is emphasized in this book to express Twain’s commands to the boy’s heroism. He does not agree with the social environment. He insisted on going out of control. He is brave enough to save Becky and himself out of the cave.He did not give up even though he was in trouble.
