'Thinnest House in London' On Sale for $1.3 Million
This house in London may be small in size, but it's not small in price. A house that has been called "quite probably the thinnest house in London" has been put on sale for more than $1.3 million.
The house is less than 1.7 meters wide at its narrowest point. It's just over 3 meters at its widest, although most rooms are less than 2 meters wide.
Located in Shepherd's Bush in west London, the house has five floors, with two bedrooms, a garden and a roof terrace.
for the saleThe building used to be a hat shop in the 19th or early 20th century, but it was made into a house by photographer Juergen Teller in the '90s.
"The house is ... special because of how unique it is," said David Myers of Winkworth, the real estate agent selling the house.
Myers said that there are no houses in London that are this narrow, and while there are some that have five floors, they don't have the same unique space and history.
"It's not designed to be a family home," said Myers. Instead, he said that single people and couples are looking to buy the house.
While this may be London's narrowest house, it's much larger than the narrowest house in the world.
The Keret House, found in Warsaw, Poland, is only 92 centimeters at its narrowest point and 152 centimeters at its widest. However, it was designed to be a place for traveling writers to stay for a short amount of time, not a place for someone to live long term.
