My Journey Through 5th Grade English Class
Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader. I just finished the second semester of my English class and I wanted to share my experiences with you. It was quite an adventure!
In the first lesson, we learned about jobs and careers. I found it really interesting to learn about all the different kinds of work people do. Some jobs I knew about already like doctors, teachers, and police officers. But there were so many other cool ones too like archaeologists who dig up ancient artifacts, astrologists who study the stars and planets, and even dog groomers! I'm not sure what job I want when I grow up yet, but I have a long time to decide.
Next, we moved on to lesson two which was about leisure activities. We talked about hobb
sort of admities like reading, playing sports, collecting things, and more. My favorite hobby is drawing pictures of animals and fantasy creatures. I also really enjoy playing badminton with my dad in our backyard. It was fun sharing about the different activities we like to do for fun.
In lesson three, we learned how to describe people's personalities and appearance. We practiced using adjectives like kind, funny, tall, short, etc. I wrote a description of my best friend Julia. I said she is very smart, caring, and a good listener. She has long brown hair and pretty green eyes. Describing people in English was tricky at first but I think I got the hang of it!
Then we had lesson four which was all about food, meals, and healthy eating habits. I learned lots of new vocabulary words for different foods. My favorites are ice cream, pizza, and chocolate cake! We also talked about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables to stay healthy. I'll admit, I could definitely eat more of those. Maybe I'll make that my New Year's resolution.
Lesson five was about weather and seasons. Living where I do, we don't get much snow
in the winter. But I loved learning about blizzards, snowstorms, and other extreme weather events. The pictures of the massive snowdrifts looked so cool! Summer is probably my favorite season since I love going to the pool and getting ice cream with my friends.
In lesson six, we covered subjects like science, music, art, and P.E. at school. I'm not a huge fan of most of my academic class periods, but I absolutely love art class! Getting to draw, paint, and get creative is the highlight of my week. P.E. can be fun too when we play games, but I'm not a big fan of the running laps part. No thanks!
Lesson seven had us learning about trips, travel, and famous landmarks around the world. I thought it was awesome seeing pictures of places like the Pyramids in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the Taj Mahal in India. Hearing about all the great sights made me want to jump on a plane and start traveling right then! My parents say we'll go on a big family trip once I'm older.
Next up was lesson eight which focused on places in a town or city. We learned words for places like the library, museum, park, mall, and more. My favorite place in our town has
to be the community pool that has these great water slides. The mall is fun too since I love going shopping with my mom, especially for new clothes and books.
In lesson nine, the topic shifted to holidays and celebrations. This was a unit I really enjoyed since I love holidays! We learned about holidays like Christmas, Halloween, and Easter that we celebrate here. But we also studied some holidays from other cultures too like Diwali, Chinese New Year, and Brazil's Carnival festival. Maybe one day I'll get to experience some of those incredible celebrations in person.
Finally, we wrapped up the semester with lesson ten which was all about animals. This was probably my favorite unit since I'm obsessed with all kinds of creatures! We learned about pets like dogs, cats, hamsters, and birds. But we also studied wild animals from the jungle, forest, ocean, and more. I thought the pictures and videos we saw of lions, sharks, monkeys and parrots were just amazing. If I can't be an artist when I grow up, I'd love to work with animals somehow.
Well, those were the 10 lessons we covered this semester! English class was a lot of fun
and I feel like I learned so much useful vocabulary and got better at listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. As I head into 6th grade, I'm really looking forward to continuing my English studies. Who knows, maybe I'll even become an English teacher someday! But for now, I've got a fun summer vacation ahead before next semester begins. Thanks for reading about my adventures!
篇2
Hello, my name is Emily, and I'm a fifth-grade student. I'm going to share with you my thoughts and experiences about the first ten units of our new English textbook. Get ready for an exciting journey through these units!
    Unit 1 - My Hobbies
This unit was all about hobbies, and I really enjoyed learning about different activities people enjoy doing in their free time. My favorite hobby is reading, and I was thrilled to see it mentioned in the unit. I also learned some new hobbies like stamp collecting and bird wat
ching, which sound really interesting. The dialogues and exercises helped me practice talking about my hobbies and asking others about theirs.
