    Holidays Around the World
Holidays are the best! I love when there's no school and I get to sleep in late. But even more fun than that is celebrating all the different holidays with my family and friends.
My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas. I love decorating the tree with all the shiny ornaments and twinkling lights. My brother and I always fight over who gets to put the star or angel on top. The Christmas cookies that my mom bakes are so delicious, especially the ones with sprinkles or frosting. And of course, opening presents is the most exciting part! I can never wait to see what Santa brought me.
For New Year's, we stay up late and watch the ball drop on TV at midnight. We make noise
with party horns and bang pots and pans when it turns to the new year. One year, we even did a conga line around the living room! My dad makes us black-eyed peas for good luck. They don't taste that great, but I eat them anyway just in case.
Valentine's Day is a fun holiday for kids because we get to make mailboxes at school and bring Valentine's cards and candy for our classmates. I always try to get the Valentines with superheroes or Pokémon. My parents usually get me a present too, like a stuffed animal or chocolates.
St. Patrick's Day is when we all wear green so we don't get pinched! My grandma is Irish, so she makes us corned beef and cabbage. It's not my favorite food, but we get green milkshakes for dessert. We also do fun things like hunting for leprechauns or making traps to catch them.
Easter is another one of my favorites. My brother and I love decorating eggs by dipping them in colored dye. We have a big egg hunt in the backyard and whoever finds the most eggs wins a big chocolate bunny! After church, we have a huge Easter feast with ham, pota
toes, and my aunt's delicious carrot cake.sort of things什么意思
For the 4th of July, we have a picnic and barbecue in the park during the day. We play frisbee and climb on the playground. At night, we watch the big fireworks show. My dad lets me have a few sparklers to wave around, as long as I'm careful. I feel so proud waving the red, white, and blue.
Halloween is a blast! Getting to dress up in a costume is so much fun. One year I was a dinosaur, another year a wizard. We go trick-or-treating and try to fill up our pumpkin pails with as much candy as we can. My grandpa always has the best full-size candy bars. After, we have a contest to see who can carve the best jack-o-lantern.
There are also holidays that we celebrate from other cultures. For Lunar New Year, we have a huge feast with my Chinese grandparents. We get red envelopes with money inside and set off tons of firecrackers for good luck. It's really loud but exciting! For Dia de los Muertos, we make an altar with sugar skulls, marigolds, and pictures of our relatives who have passed away. We leave out their favorite foods and drinks as offerings. It seems a littl
e creepy but it's to honor them.
Every holiday is an adventure filled with special food, games, activities, and time spent together as a family. I love learning about the traditions and being a part of the celebrations. It makes the year fun and gives me tons of great memories. I can't wait for the next holiday!

Here's an English composition about holidays, written from the perspective of a fifth-grade student, around 2,000 words long:
    Holidays are the Best!
Holidays are the best time of the year! I love having a break from school and getting to relax, play games, and do fun things with my family and friends. There are so many great holidays that I look forward to every year.
My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas! I love decorating the Christmas tree with my parents and little sister. We hang up all the ornaments, strings of lights, and a beautiful star on top. My mom makes delicious Christmas cookies like gingerbread men and sugar cookies frosted with green and red icing. We leave out milk and cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, I race downstairs to see what presents Santa brought! Ripping open the wrapping paper is so exciting. Last year, I got a new bike, some video games, and a remote control car. After opening presents, we have a big Christmas dinner with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pie for dessert. Yum!
Halloween is another fun holiday. I love dressing up in a silly or spooky costume. One year I was a pirate, another year a superhero. My friends and I go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, ringing doorbells and yelling "Trick or treat!" We collect tons of candy like chocolate bars, lollipops, and gummies. At the end of the night, we trade our candy with each other to get more of our favorites. Sometimes we have Halloween parties at school too and play games like bobbing for apples.
The 4th of July is a blast because we get to watch fireworks light up the sky in bright colors like red, blue, and green. They make cool sizzling noises as they explode into different shapes like stars, rings, and waterfalls. My family has a backyard barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, and watermelon slices. We set off some smaller fireworks and sparklers. I love waving the sparklers around and leaving trails of bright sparks in the air.
