    Common Types of English Writing Prompts in 5th and 6th Grade
    Writing essays and stories is one of my favorite parts of English class. Our teacher Mrs. Roberts always gives us fun and interesting prompts to write about. There are all sorts of different types of writing assignments she has us do throughout the year. Let me tell you about some of the most common ones!
    Narrative Essays
    One of the most fun types of prompts are the narrative essays where we get to tell a story. The prompt will be something like "Write about a time you went on an adventure" or "Describe an exciting day you had." For these, we have to write a story with a clear beginni
ng, middle, and end. We try to include lots of details to make the story come alive and be as descriptive as possible.
    I really enjoy narrative prompts because I can let my imagination run wild and write about anything I want, like the time I got lost in the woods or my adventures as a pirate captain sailing the high seas. As long as the story follows the prompt, we can make it as crazy and fantastical as we'd like!
    Persuasive Essays
    Persuasive essays are when we have to take a stance on an issue and try to convince the reader of our point of view. Maybe the prompt is something like "Should kids have to go to school year-round?" or "Should junk food be banned at school?" We have to pick a side, state our opinion clearly, and then support it with strong reasons and evidence.
    These prompts can be tricky because you have to logically think through both sides of the issue. But I like the challenge of coming up with solid arguments to persuade the reade
